I wish my grass were emo. Then, it would cut itself.

lol, that story is hilarious. That stupid point system they showed is probably one of those Myspace quizzes everyone sends a bulletin about.

But seriously, emo is dead. It peaked around 2000-2002, and the culture is now taken over by what kids call "scene" and "scene" music.

There are few things funnier than mainstream news programs trying decipher the language and fads of youth. It ends up looking like an SNL or Daily Show skit.

I had no idea (nor did I care) that Emo=Emotional. Man it sucks to be a teenager.

So, like, what's the, like, difference between Emo, Goth and, like, New Wave other than, like, when they were big, like, fads? Like, seriously, they all look, like, the same to me.

that newcasts annoyed me. the videos and websites you saw were making fun of emo kids.. most of them atleast. I'm considered "emo" because of how i dress, and the music i listen to. I dont cut or try to kill myself. Thats gotten bad with the emo tho. People associate that stuff with emo now. I think emo is just a fashion trend like goth and a style of music.

Yeah it seems like a lot of those music fashions have taken a hit, "emo" has SERIOUSLY died, "scene kids" are close behind, and "indie" is either dying out or is just really old and annoying to me. There used to be a grand old time when "emo" was actually a type of music, and not a way to describe a person's myspace picture.

That was hilarious, btw. Coming from someone who's seen their share of decked out kids at shows (Cornerstone Festival in Illinois), it's weird to see an outsider's view on this stuff. They sound like fascinated parents. I'm pretty sure most kids that dress that way DON'T cut themselves or have suicidal thoughts. I can just see a parent watching this and then going into their goth kid's room..."Brad? We need to talk."

The fashion? I don't know about that...it definitely gained momentum with the invention of myspace...it didn't start dying out until at least 2003.

By the way, Blitz and anybody else who feels that they are emo, be sure to check out emogame.com...it's actually a really awesome video game that tests your knowledge of the genre...also you get to shoot fat girls with Weezer shirts and fight Creed in a Hot Topic...amusing stuff to me.

LMFAO. I can't stand these little depressed bastards, but this "news" story is so ridiculous. I'm seriously doubt these depressed kids are scoring eachother for how Emo they are, the points test is surely a joke. The best part was either the one girl talking about Emo while they played Fallout Boy in the background or them showing that video from Youtube that makes fun of Emo kids but suggesting that the lyrics are serious.

all trends are dumb when they get to a certain stage.

all those kids look the same, but when you go somewhere and actually look around everyone pretty looks the same to.

its hard these days more then ever to do something creative with the way you look. in saying who really cares.

    "Back in the 80's,
she wanted to be in a hair band.
    And then in the 90's,
    she only wore corduroy pants.
    And then there was emo,
but that was just a phase.
    'Cause it's all been downhill
    since Sunny Day Real Estate's
    first record."
