23 points on 11-17 shooting. 7 rebounds, with several of the big power variety. 2 steals. 2 blocks. ZERO turnovers (to those who said he couldn't pass). Outstanding defense holding Antoine Walker to 4-17 shooting. Want a reason to why this guy should be here long-term? Why should we want to resign him? Why is he valuable to this team? Watch the tape of this game. What was that about him "disappearing"? Someone may have spoke too soon eh? ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." No doubt. I think Mo catches a lot of mess for being a big (make that huge) forward that doesn't do a lot of gritty board work. He definitely has game and he definitely plays a valuable role on this team. as far as being the heart of this team ... maybe next year ------------------ word to your mother [This message has been edited by DaGlide (edited February 20, 2001).] [This message has been edited by DaGlide (edited February 20, 2001).]
Nice post Cat But he did disappear for a while (for me more cause Dream was playing well) and It's great to have him back! ------------------ CUT Tino These Heaves are just getting Ridiculous!
I want to keep Mo too, but we need to recognize his deficiencies and get someone else in here to help us out. IE..since he can't rebound, we should get a MONSTER at the center position who just gets rebounds, and putbacks...it could be Cato, but he is such a wuss, I hate to count on him. think positively I agree. If he weren't a wus and if he rebounded, he'd be such a good player. I'm so unfair to him when I bash him for several games of suckiness. He always proves me wrong w/ that one good game that he busts out with from time to time. I like Mo Taylor. ------------------
When Mo takes the ball inside more , he is really effective. I love when he gets to post up and hit that hook of his. He has such a big body that he can power his way inside. I would like him to take less outside shots and just post up the players. Great game by mo ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
Francis3, How did you get your posts back? DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from monkeys and apes, then why are there still monkeys and apes?
Your wrong in saying that Francis3. Mo Taylor's strength is his jumper. He's most effective facing up and knocking down that jumper. He does have a nice hook, but that jumper is his money shot. ------------------
Great game for the Space Cowboy! If Dream and him keep up their level of play chances of the postseason are looking better and better. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams fan club. Web site coming soon atheistalliance.org
Mo can rebound, but I agree he won't ever be a physical presence inside. However, as I have always stated, there are 2 main pieces to the post players of a championship team. You need one guy to rebound/defend/block, and that is what we are missing right now. But you also HAVE to have low post scoring. If you don't have a big man who can consistently score you won't go anywhere. And most players are either one or the other, not both. It takes two pieces to the puzzle, and Mo IS one of those pieces. We do need an interior defender to complement him, but by the same token if we had an interior defender right now we'd need a Mo Taylor to complement him if we wanted to go anywhere. Mo is very valuable to this team, and he is one of the pieces we need to succeed in the coming years. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. Those several games you refer to lately I'm sure were the games in which Dream took over as the inside scorer and rebounder. Can you blame Mo for that? Dream had a lackluster game tonight when he was the 2nd post option (what Mo had been). So why aren't you bashing him for "suckiness"? ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. There's no doubt. Agreed Cat, Unless you get lucky and get both of those in a one player package...IE Olajuwon etc... Mo is a good player, and since this game is about OUTSCORING your opponent, and I believe you need 3 consistent scoring threats to win, then Mo certainly adds that. I just hope Cato can grab his tethered sack and start playing like a wounded bear. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from monkeys and apes, then why are there still monkeys and apes?
Yep... and almost every game thereafter in which he was healthy (games after Celtic game in November don't count) he was a very effective backup center who pleased most Rocket fans here. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." So he had a good game. Lets see him come back and do it again tomorrow. I'll bet he doesn't. If he played like this all the time, we wouldn't be drooling over CWebb. This was only the first part of the trick. Tomorrow he will disapear right before your eyes. Poof ------------------ When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new. Love how you wait for a game against Kevin Garnett to "bet on him having an off night." If you expected Mo to make us not drool over CWebb your expectations were WAY too high. Mo is a good player, but CWebb is a great player. A franchise player. No matter what Mo does of course we'll still drool over Cwebb. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. There's no doubt. In all fairness to Walker and Boston, they were in the second night of a back-to-back and Mo's greatness is overstated. I found an equivalent scenario for Mo and he was 1-9 shooting. So actually, Walker had a better % in the same type of situation than Mo did in his. Mango ------------------ Spring Cleaning!!!
I'll concede your point... but only b/c I hope Dream was being spelled for the first of the back to back (30 minutes w/ as many shots as he took doesn't sound like he was being spelled... but at least he didn't touch the ball 20+ times). In short, I'll take Dream as the first option over Mo any day of the week... unless the Rockets can get away w/ not overplaying Dream. A horrible game from Dream (which this was not) is always better than an above average game from Mo. This was an excellent game by Mo... perhaps his best. Unfortunately that's not saying too much. ------------------
