Check the other threads--it looks like the Francis trade was to make room for a Mutumbo return after Christmas. Deke was quoted recently saying he hasn't signed with Boston, SA or Memphis because he was waiting to see what we we're going to do.

Wishful thinking is that he'll return....

he said last year that he had to turn down bostons offer because of the temperature there. not good for his old legs. i expect him back here for sure.

also, would keep my eye on signing damon stoudamire or darrel armstrong as our 15th man. both guys wanted an invite to camp. a vet PG at the end of the bench would be nice.

Please say no to DA! Last time I saw him play it was painful to see. Totally washed up I would rather have Livingston.

The Rockets might have options... If they chose not to or cannot sign Deke:

The Rockets are under LT enough to trade Wafer's non-guaranteed contract via min salary exceptn to the Nets then get Sean Williams in return via a TE.

Deke wants 2Mil, we don't even have 1Mil. I don't think we're done trading though.

How about a 2 year deal and Deke retires after this year?

I doubt if they will go that route. DM was high on Sean Williams when he was drafted and he showed a lot of promise in his debut year, but not this season.

Boston wins, he signs with them. LA wins, he is coming to Houston.

The Francis move alone is a head-scratcher, but I've learned enough over the past three years to know that if a move looked questionable, then either 1.) I'm wrong in questioning him (as in the case of the draft two years ago) or 2.) he's not done dealing yet (as was the case with the Bonzi Wells dump and triple-trading of draft picks to get Donte Greene, all for the purpose of acquiring Artest).

Let's reserve judgment until we finally see what his decision is about how we will address our backup C spot.

Hakim Warrick would be a better fit on this team then Sean Williams. I question Sean Williams BBIQ. I think He thrives better under a point guard like Jason Kidd or Steve Nash.

I guarantee that Mutombo will sign with us tomorrow.

He was part of a very special team last year which went on a historic 22 game winning streak.....which the Celtics failed to match ;)

Him signing with Boston is very unlikely.

    Any links?

I need to mention one thing:

Last season, Mutombo and Yao both played were only 14 games, 2 minutes per game. When Yao is all right, Mutombo dont have to much time to play, but when Yao went out, his value is discoverd, but although we won 22-0 streak, also out in the first round. So we can say if Yao is healthy Deke may not have much time to play, but if yao injured, we may out earlier. If we can resign Mutombo, hope Adelman can let Mutombo play sometime, not only when Yao get in the foul trouble. That may greatly help rockets. Yao can have much time rest, less possible to break his foot. And also Mutombo can keep his status when playoffs come..

Mutombo's value mostly due to his defence and experience in the playoffs. So resign is a good decision..
