Snyder needs practice Rockets guard Kirk Snyder was cleared by hand specialist Idris Gharbaoui on Friday, the last medical hurdle to playing for the first time since breaking his right wrist. But Snyder will have another wait before he sees the court. "I don't think he's close to playing," Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said. "He's been out since the New York game (Nov. 20), and he hasn't practiced. "When you've been out weeks and you can't practice and we don't have any practices until the 15th scheduled — there's some shootarounds — but it's going to be difficult for him." Snyder, who said he is having trouble holding on to the ball, was happy to have even taken Friday's step. "I just want to go through warmups," he said. "It's been a long time since I've been on the court. That would put a smile on my face. I haven't had an opportunity to compete. The guys have been playing so we haven't had a lot of opportunity to compete. That's going to be the big question mark, when contact starts." http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/44081/20070106/snyder_cleared_by_hand_specialist/ dont think this is posted but this is definitely good news..hopefully he gets into shape quick and help us out with his atheleticm
great news. thanks. snyder now should refrain from using his hands night-in night-out. he should team up with Bonzi on that 290 spa adventure.
he was dressed last night but did not play hopefully he can get some time in shootaround and practices to be back next week against the lakers. we sorely need his size to help us out
Hmmm, slightly surprised at the scheduling of practices. I thought NBA teams practiced between games, oh well, you learn something new every day.
Seems like he could be practicing without the team, right? I mean, I realize it won't be NBA quality competition, but it seems like he's not ready for that anyway. Were they saying that he's not ready to practice anyway, or simply that he can't practice because they team's not practicing?
They have warmups and film sessions on off days and walkthrus on gameday. But when you only have 1 off day between games and a bunch of back to backs, you need rest. I think the 15th is the first 2day break they have.
I got to the game early last night and Snyder was on the floor taking passes and practicing jump shots. He seemed careful receiving the passes at the time. He was on the floor 1/2 half an hour while I was there. Once the others started filing in for warm-ups he left the court. He looked rusty as would be expected but it still looked good to see him on the court.
Nice report... it's good to see him somewhat active, we need as many option and weapon as we can have to hold the fort down until Yao comes back.
