Anyone know of any good, working snoring remedies? Lately I've been waking up the Mrs. (and even myself a couple of times) sawing logs at night. I've tried Breathe Right strips and they were ineffective. I'd really like to avoid a surgical solution, if I can.

Boil a pot of water and inhale the steam before you go to bed.

Something I do which I'm convinced helps is that I've learned to sleep with a pillow pushed up under my chin to keep my head up and my neck outstretched. It keeps the neck more taut and so less flapping. You can even do this sleeping on your back.

    Avoid sleep. 100% effectiveness.

Seriously though, I don't think there's any universal method that's been proven to stop snoring. Try sleeping with a different posture?

If you're overweight, that can increase snoring a lot. (obviously don't know if you are or not)

My dad and brother got these machines they place over their nose at night. If you get a test and get approved they're not very expensive. "Cpap" or something like that.

I told them both to lose about 40 lbs a piece and they wouldn't need that damn machine. ;)

I had one of these a few years ago but it fit on my face uncomfortably. Had to get ride of it. Losing 40 lbs didn't stop my snoring.

Are you snoring when you are sleeping on your side? I find that the only time I snore is when I am sleeping on my back. I never snore when I am sleeping on my side.

I'm not overweight and I snore. It's really not too loud, but it hurts my throat. I tried the breathright strips and they didn't work worth a damn.

Don't you feel better though? :D

I not saying its a cure all, but i've heard being a little chubby can increase snoring. I know I tend to snore more if I'm pushing a little extra chub around.

That and if i've been drinking..........whoooooo the logs are rattlin then!

Anyone know why being overweight leads to snoring?

There is more fat build up around the air passages, and some sag. This makes the inhaling create a "purring" that becomes loud as air exits the nose. You will not snore if you sleep on either side of your face.

I believe it means if you sleep on either side, you will be sleeping on the side of your face. As opposed to sleeping face up.

Sleeping face down does the job too. You won't ever snore again. Nor wake up for that matter.
