Anyone catch the show last night? I only saw bits and pieces. I wasn't impressed with the stuff that I did see. Especially Britney's ballad. She's just plain horrible. I have no idea why she sings live.
They are trying too hard to push Horacio Saenz as the new fat funny guy. He's not. I gave up after 20 minutes. Thank god for HBO on Demand. The Salton Sea was pretty good.
I too only caught a couple of the skits. I was not too impressed, but: Zimmer skit was funny. Brit's voice was horrendous. Halle is still fine.
That was the worst SNL I think I've ever seen. I laughed out loud a couple times, but I'm kinda easy to crack up lately. The only thing I thought was really good was the Klymaxxx skit. Overall, horrible, horrible episode.
I didn't see all of it, but the parts I did see sucked. The Zimmer skit was horrible. The actual event was much funnier than what they did with it. More real life material prime for satire wasted. They botched the Kobe thing too. A high school drama class could put together crap like that.
I liked the joke that Tina made during the news segment about the Atkins diet. She said something along the lines of: "Research shows that people on Atkins diet eat more calories than people on other diets but still lose weight. They are able to consume more calories because they burn more calories running their yapper about how their on Atkins." I instantly thought of Dadakota. LOL
Is it chic to hate SNL now? The Kobe Bryant opening: funny The Gay Drug: hilarious Don Zimmer Show: hilarious Versace: funny Sunday National Enquirer: funny Weekend Update: funny overall, audience not getting the native american comic sketch made it seem less funny Klymaxx: funny Speed Reader: hilarious "poor Jesus" That's like over half the show with good sketches.
I did not catch the whole thing but when the Brokaw skit was over the audience was completely silent. I only saw the last 45 seconds or so, but I can imagine what led up to it. If the rest was as dull as the punch line then it was terrible too. From what I saw, they were dragging out the all the jokes until even the that were funny were no longer funny.
It's always been the "in" thing to hate SNL, ever since the original cast got broken up. I woudn't worry about joining in the bashing. If you enjoyed it, just enjoy it. I didn't see it, but I know that Horatio Sanz is friggin hilarious.
Zimmer show was funny at first, EXTREMELY stupid after 'Costas' showed up. I was expecting a fake Pedro to show up, but no. And HOW THE HELL do they not make a skit about Steve Bartman? Anything would have been funny. WU sucked. Gaystrogen was indeed funny and the Sunday National Inquirer was the only thing that I thought hilarious. That's one thing they seem to never ruin (the commercials). Too bad they can't hire new writers.
They have to present sketches on Monday, so it's pretty tough to get a rush job in when something happens later in the week. Most of the times they do that it seems pretty forced.
I couldn't stop laughing at that Native American comedian thing on WU. That's the only part of the show that I laughed at though.
That is what I was saying they tried to drag out skits by dragging out the jokes to the point what was initially semi-comical is now corny.
