I went and saw that movie, The Transporter, today and there was a preview for a movie called "Phone Booth." In the movie, some hotshot, ******* media consultant answers a phone in a booth and a sniper on the other end tells him he has to stay there or he will shoot him. The sniper then proceeds to screw the guys life up through various means while the guy is in the phone booth. I couldn't really tell if it was good or bad, but someone I was with said that due to the DC area sniper the movie's release is suspended indefinitely. Just another reason to hate this(these) b*stard(s)...as if we needed any others.

Here is the only thing I could find on it:

The statement of suspension is one of the news items on the right of the above linked page.

I think it was a stupid preview. Didn't make any sense of a movie and just the focus on a guy in the phone booth?

Seems like a good movie to me, psychological thrillers are good. I've heard there is some buzz over Colin Farrell's performance and that he might be nominated for some awards.

This came out earlier this week:

Real-life events may prompt Fox to hold sniper movie

    By ANTHONY BREZNICAN
    Associated Press

LOS ANGELES -- Real-life sniper attacks have prompted 20th Century Fox to consider postponing release of the thriller Phone Booth, about a man who answers a public telephone and finds himself pinned down by a faraway shooter.

The film, starring Colin Farrell as the trapped victim and Kiefer Sutherland as the shooter, is set to debut nationwide Nov. 15.

The plot of the film bears some similarities to the sniper attacks on the East Coast that have killed seven people and wounded two in the Washington area.

In the real cases, no one is known to have seen the triggerman carry out any of the attacks, although some witnesses reported seeing a white van flee some of the shooting scenes. In the film, the shooter singles out individuals he believes deserve punishment.

Fox spokeswoman Flo Grace said studio executives are examining Phone Booth to determine if it would be appropriate to release it. She could not say when the decision would be made.

"Everyone wants to know: Are we moving the film? Are we changing the marketing plan? ... All I can say is we're evaluating the situation," she said.

Screenwriter Larry Cohen, who wrote Phone Booth three years ago, said he would not mind if the studio delayed release of the film.

"I'd hate to inflict pain on any of the family and friends of the victims and bring the pain back to them," he said. "A movie is meaningless compared to the reality of what's going on."

When the shootings began last week, Cohen -- best known for the writing and directing monster features like The Stuff and Return to Salem's Lot -- said he knew the release of Phone Booth would be in jeopardy.

"I'm very happy the picture didn't come out beforehand," he said. "It would have been horrible to think, 'Oh my God, did I put the idea in someone's head?'"

Cohen's 1976 film God Told Me To had a similar sniper theme -- it was about a series of random shooting murders by a madman who thinks God talks to him.

At the site of Monday's shooting that critically wounded a 13-year-old boy outside his school in Bowie, Md., police found a tarot death card with the taunting words, "Dear policeman, I am God" near a bullet shell.

"Maybe it's better to stick with monster babies and dragons flying down from the Chrysler Building, because you know that some diseased mind can't make those things really happen," Cohen said, referring to his films It's Alive! and Q.

Sometimes movies that explore current events coincide with real-life headlines more closely than filmmakers expect.

Perhaps the most uncanny timing in film history came in 1979 when the nuclear-meltdown thriller The China Syndrome opened in theaters 12 days before the nation's worst commercial nuclear accident, at Three Mile Island near Harrisburg, Pa.

the movie opened at Toronto Film Fest to good reviews.
it takes place in real time once Colin Farrell enters the phone booth. Kiefer Sutherland is the sniper. Forest Whitaker, Katie HOlmes, Radha Mitchell(HIgh Art), are all in it. Also, a friend of mine plays Colin's assistant in the opening scene which takes place in TImes Square.

The whole movie was shot in ten days, Schumacher has used Colin Farrell in his last two pics, TIgerland and Phone Booth.

    CNN Entertainment reports

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Twentieth Century Fox has decided to delay indefinitely the release of its new thriller "Phone Booth," about a man caught in the crosshairs of a sniper, a company official said Tuesday.

The decision came in light of the recent killings in the Washington area in which a suspected sniper has shot 11 people, the company said.

Fox had been re-evaluating the release date for several days, according to Flo Grace, vice president of corporate communications. She said Fox has not determined a new release date for the movie, which was supposed to open nationwide November 15.

The movie stars Colin Farrell as a man who answers a call in a public phone booth and then finds himself the target of a faraway gunman, played by Kiefer Sutherland. Joel Schumacher directed the film.

I've seen the preview twice in the last two days...freaky.

The movie looks awesome though. I remember when Jim Carrey was supposed to play the lead role.

JIm Carrey, Will Smith both backed out.

and the sniper, played by Sutherland was actually recast AFTER principal photography was completed.

they completely cut an actor's(ROn Eldard) entire part and added Sutherland
    in ADR looping.
