It's the smoothie thread once again.

I know that nearly everyone loves a great smoothie, so who out there makes their smoothies at home? If you do, what are some of your favorite ingredients/recipes?

I just made a nice smoothie with just pineapples. I dumped a 20 oz. can of pineapples, some sugar, a little bit of milk, and some ice into the smoothie machine, and it turned out great.

I like almost any kind of fruity smoothie. Pineapples are always a plus.

Yogurt, vanilla milk, soy yogurt, soy milk are all good things to add to your smoothie.

    One of my favorites:

    Frozen Strawberries
    Frozen Bananas
Vanilla milk (or vanilla soy milk)
    blend and serve

sometimes I'll throw in some frozen blueberries or peaches...

also, maybe some Flax Seed Oil...helps to keep the insides lubed up!!

I ALWAYS have atleast one a day, mostly when I get ready for work so I will stay away from the coffee...

    I go with

    Frozen Strawberries

    Frozen Bananas

    Crangrape juice

    water

    some sugar to taste

    or

    I go with

    Frozen berry mix with cherrys

    Frozen Bananas

    OJ

    water

    some sugar to taste

I dont add milk or icecream the frozen fruit does a good job keeping it thick, but make sure to keep all the fruit frozen or it tastes like crap..

I have added all this up I spend 55.00 a month on these damn smoothies, but I do feel better durring the day when I drink them on a consistant basis..

There is a place in my town, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and I had one of their smooties and it was awful. I guess they add ice to them because they're watery and you crunch on ice chips al the time.

Strawberries and Pineapple are the two fruits I could live off if they provided enough nutrition alone.

Fruit, ice, sugar to taste. That's all I need.

I love smoothies. The ones I make aren't as good as the ones I get from Robeks. I do make them at home occasionally. When I do I always use honey as the sweetner.

We prefer berries, so I drop in frozen strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, then add some room-temperature (pref.) juice (pref raspberry flavored, but even apple juice will work ... don't use grape).

To whoever posted the recipe for the hangover buster a couple of years ago, I'm eternally grateful. I think it was legrouper. I make those every time I'm hungover and it really helps.

    banana
    milk
    frozen yogurt - vanilla
    ice
    peanut butter

The "Carribean Way" from Smoothie King is a great one. I don't remember exactly what it has in it, but basically, any smoothie that has strawberries in it is good to me.

Sometimes after I work out, I go to a place called "Smoothie Factory" because their stuff is more nutrition based as opposed to Smoothie King, which to me, is more for just getting something that tastes good. An "engineered foods - lean body - pineapples & rasberries" is awesome.
