I started a thread about this in the D&D, but I just bought it tonight, and it works. And by mean works, I mean if you have ever thought about quitting, this is the easiest way to do it. A new product came out called Njoy. It is essentially an electronic device that lets you inhale nicotine. No more smoke filled clothes, etc. If you're used to the taste of a cigarette, you won't get that, but I've found myself not needing one. Considering all of the tars, smoke, tobacco, etc., I'm amazed. I'm even noticing my clicking this product on the ashtray as a force of habit. Yes, it does need to be refilled, but it is still cheaper than cigarettes right now. I can't tell you how much I'm impressed with this product right now. I don't need a cigarette at all, and I've been a pack a day smoker for 20 years. There are going to be the cold turkey people on here. And that is fine. But I've noticed for years that some of us get more addicted to nicotine than others. This is essentially a patch you can inhale. Bravo to capitalism.
Pfft, this response is the equivalent of Lil Pun saying, "I don't like cheese." in a "Favorite type of cheese?" thread.
If you've never smoked, why bother? I understand the initial buzz you get when you start, but that goes away in a month. In this day and age, don't bother doing anything more than you do. Nicotine has been shown to be one of the most addictive drugs out there.
LOL! Well damn finalsbound, why you gotta go and do that? I won't do that anymore, I promise. I just realized how annoying it was when somebody jumps in a thread to post one sentence to tell you their dislike of a person, place, or thing. I apologize for the numerous times I have done it.
Fatty, is this a new product? If so, when did it come out? What is the price? Where can you get it? I never have smoked but I would love to get my mom to try something besides patches or gum because they have always failed.
That is a lot longer than most people. Don't fall off the train and just stick with what you're doing. Good luck to you and all people that are trying to quit this unhealthy habit.
It'll cost $100 to start, which is nothing for a smoker. This has been working so well that it is just about sold out, and knowing this, I ain't about to give out where I found it online! (you need refills.) Y'all can google Njoy. For you, Pun, email me.
it looks exactly like an actual cigarette..same size, same color, same everything.. it even has a red light at its tip to make it look like it's actually burning.. plus, who gives a $h!t about what others may think as long as you're essentially ELIMINATING the health risk of smoking without really "quitting" this habit? I quit cold turkey about a month ago, then finals rolled in and I came back to my beloved reds, but now that I'm done, I quit cold turkey again.. but once this "e-cig" starts selling here in the U.S (ie: get it from a store) and the price drops a little, I'm getting me one..
Hong Kong Government does not like it. [rQUOTEr]Electronic cigarettes containing nicotine governed by law ********************************************************* The Department of Health (DH) today (March 4) called on smokers not to use electronic cigarettes as the safety, efficacy and quality of this kind of product have to be established. A DH spokesman said initial laboratory analysis on an electronic cigarette sample revealed that it contained nicotine. The spokesman stressed that under the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance, electronic cigarettes containing nicotine and marketed as tobacco cessation products were classified as pharmaceutical products requiring registration in Hong Kong. He said that investigations by the DH had indicated that several brands of electronic cigarettes were on sale on the Internet and in local shops. The DH raided a shop in Sham Shui Po earlier today, resulting in the seizure of nine types of electronic cigarettes. The DH's investigations are in progress. The DH has also instructed the parties concerned to remove electronic cigarette advertisements and promotional materials from their websites. The spokesman said possession or sale of an unregistered pharmaceutical product, and possession of Part I poisons without authority, were both liable on conviction to a $100,000 fine and two years' imprisonment. He urged members of the public who have been using electronic cigarettes to stop using them immediately. They should destroy and dispose of the products or submit them to the DH's Pharmaceutical Service at 3/F, Public Health Laboratory Centre, 382 Nam Cheong Street, Kowloon, during office hours. Smokers who want to quit smoking should seek advice from medical professionals. Information on smoking cessation can be obtained at the Tobacco Control Office website (www.tco.gov.hk). One of my best friends simply cannot quit smoking for any length of time. The best he's done is 3 months, and then "Boom!" he's off the wagon and back to 1-2 packs a day. As someone who's developed an allergic reaction to second hand smoke, if I'm around it more than an hour or so, I'm eager to find anything that could help him and help me. Like I said, this is one of my best friends. We hang all the time, He's bought those very expensive air cleaners, the tall, round ones from Sharper Image or another well known company, but unless you have the thing on full blast, which sounds like a jet getting reading for takeoff, it doesn't help much. I bring an extra shirt I leave in my car when I visit, because I can't take the odor filling my car on the way home that permeates anything I wear. I end up washing clothes that aren't really dirty, except for the smell of visiting him and his cigs. His current pad doesn't have a balcony or patio, or he'd go out there to smoke, which helps a lot. The ban on smoking in bars and clubs has me (surprise!) hanging out at bars and clubs again. If a battery operated smoking device works and doesn't put out smoke, bring that sucka on! Eons ago, I was a smoker, so I understand why people do it. I didn't quit because I didn't enjoy it, but because I figured it was one less thing I could be doing that's shortening my life span. That was 35 years ago. On the very rare ocassions when I get totally plastered with booze (nothing else has this effect), I've been known to bum a smoke and light one up. My wife will take it out of my mouth and ask me what I'm doing. My response is usually, "Wah?? I was lighting one up? Freaky!" It is the Devil's Weed! (the other weed, which I know nothing about, has the opposite effect... not only am I not allergic to it, I have a theory that it improves air quality!) So Good Luck, Fatty, and I'm telling my buddy about them.
