Apparantly they hold his Bird Rights from his stint there a couple of years ago: http://www.sportstalk.com/nba/rumors/index.shtml ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
That's really interesting. It seems like Stern won't be able to punish Smith like he'd like to. I'm sure it'll be in litigation for a while though. ------------------ Rockets Draft Obligations Summary http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
The question is, are the Sixers really interested? They've got Ratliff and T Hill at the 4 (if Geiger is playing center) and Kukoc and Lynch playing the 3. Looks like they need more help at guard, with the Claxton injury, than at forward. ------------------
Ratliff is good but Smith would be their second best post player if he went to Philly. ------------------ Remember.... You are not really drunk until you must hold on to the grass to keep from falling off the earth.
For the life of me, I can't even remember him being a Sixer. I was really confused the first time I read this because of that. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
The Warriors dumped Smith in the middle of his third year (the same season Sprewell choked PJ) to the Sixers for Clarence Weatherspoon and Jim Jackson. The Warriors' record was better after the trade than before, which tells you all you really need to know about Joe. I was the first person on various Warriors fan forums to urge trading Smith (back in December '96, early in his second year). Even when he was putting up numbers, he was overrated -- a master of boosting his stats in garbage time. ------------------
