The season is about to begin after our great draft, so make sure your line-ups are set each week. Also, adds/drops/trades are open, so let's see some activity on the trade front - makes for a funner league. On a draft note, I thought I would find out who the winners/losers were by entering all of our draft choices into a program (pc drafter) with our scoring system (which analyzes all the picks and calculates a score) to see who had the better draft and the results were interesting to say the least. Here is the order from best drafted team to worst drafted team, based on the total team you drafted: PSJ, Sam, Rook, Matt, Moe, Thame, Rimmy, Fade, nWo, Smeg, Greek and Longhorn. If you base it just on a starting line-up (using 2RB / 2WR, could not do UT) the order was: Thame, Matt, nWo, Greek, Rook, Moe, Rimmy, Smeg, Longhorn, Fade, Sam, PSJ. Anyways, not sure what that all means but it is an interesting non-biased look at the draft. That's past us now and it is time to play the games. Good luck!!!!!
I had a dream last night that McFadden broke off a huge 92 yard TD run, but he threw the ball at the ref from the 2 yard line so it was called down at the 1, like DeSean Jackson's catch last year on MNF. Should be a fun season, I still am not sure why I reached on Ted Freaking Ginn (3rd season WR myth I guess), but other than that I think my team could contend this year.
So weird... so PSJ and I either had the best drafts or the worst drafts in the league, depending on the criteria. Since I like having a link to the league site on the first page, here goes: link
I would ignore the starters ranking, as I may be reading that one wrong - the one the report focuses on is the overall score - the first list. It was just something interesting, I wanted to try to see what the outcome was - bottom line is where all 1 or 2 injuries from the top or bottom.
Interesting. I actually did something similar using a different program. I don't remember all the results exactly, but I do recall that Rook was tops, followed by Fade, Moe, nwo, Longhorn, Sex Panthers in some order...... with Greek and PSJ bringing up the rear. However, my program did not take defensive players into account at all, so who knows. It's all guess work anyway!
The one issue I had with the IDP, some that were picked where not on the list so I had to substitute with another player in that position - that happened about 6 or 7 times.
LH, it is now safe to drop your 4th round selection, Mr. QB himself, Tyler Thigpen............ ....but let me know, I may want to pick him up as my super sleeper, bottom line is the first 5 QB's for the powerhouse KC offense goes down, Mr. Thigpen could be money in this league..........
I don't know how my team's gonna be, if LT plays well and Mcnabb stays healthy I feel like I have a shot but I'm not very deep. The IDP thing threw me off at the start and I'm prolly dropping and picking up those guys every week.
No your not going crazy, the league was set for some reason to no trades. I have changed it back, so it works now and you can propose trades.
All right, you bastards, it's frigging Labour Day, the GF's working until 9, I'm on the cusp of missing the fantasy baseball playoffs and I've had enough vodka and McCain strawberry-kiwi punches to not give a **** anymore, so here are your damn team reviews: Rook: I can't deny it. You have a great team. Turner is a stud, Steve Smith is a stud and I love Ronnie Brown this year. Santonio Holmes and Anthony Gonzalez are also high quality players, both of whom I was targeting. Your offensive depth is tremendous, with Beanie Wells, Moreno, Bowe and Holt. I'm not super high on Romo, but you got Schaub too, and Romo and Schaub together are a great QB tandem. You have the best LB in the game in Patrick Willis and the rest of your defense isn't bad either. A very nice team indeed. Go to hell. Pigskin Roadkill: You messed up big time trading Moreno for Ernest Graham and whoever. Not a good move. Overall, your team looks very mediocre. I don't like Forte as much as most people, although I do like Brandon Jacobs. He's a TD machine. Your WRs are uninspiring to say the least. I don't even know how you ended up with Kirk Morrison as he was drafted by Rook and there is no record of him whatsoever on the transaction page, but whatever. Adrian Wilson is great, but who the hell cares. All DBs are great and you should only be starting one anyway. As far as I'm concerned, you drafted a team that will finish right smack dab in the middle. You'll probably go 6-7 and not make the playoffs. Congratu-frigging-lations. LonghornFan: Manning is a stud. I'm going to be second-guessing myself all season whether I should have taken Peyton Manning instead of Tom Brady, so you can bite my nads. I like Chris Johnson and Lynch (after his suspension) and Housh is a solid WR. After that your offensive blows. Your defense is middle of the road, but at least you got the best kicker!!!!! That's gotta mean something, right? Right? Wrong! Much like Pigskin Roadkill, you have a mediocre team (yes, I like the word mediocre... frig off). You'll be a stepping stone for one of the greater teams to jump up to the playoffs. Greek: Eli Manning in the 3rd round??? What were you thinking??? For that pick alone, you should be admitted into the insane asylum. Your team is terrible from top to bottom, but I guess that's how they roll in Greece. You must have been hopped up on olive oil flavored weed to draft such a crappy team. Viva la Acropolis!! Moe: You probably have the best overall defense, and your offense is nice upon first glance, however......... an injury to MJD will absolutely kill you. Boldin and Roy are nice, but for some reason I don't trust them completely. McFadden could be the next Chris Johnson.... .or he could be the next Crappy McCrapperton. Rivers is solid. Overall, if everything breaks right, you could be a big time contender. I still have no idea what a frigging lorax is, though, so for that reason you get a losing grade. Suck it! Smeg: Let me sum up your team in 5 words or less: "it sucks balls." I only needed three... wicked. Brees is a groovy disco stud, but after him, who have you got? Portis? Yeah, he's okay. Welker? Yeah, he's okay. Colston? Yeah, he's okay. Everyone else? No, they all suck. You will finish bottom third and out of the playoffs. Sorry to break it to you, sweetheart. At least you can embrace the real NFL and cheer for the Vikes, who should have a great season. Sex Panthers: I like LT to have a nice rebound season and Calvin Johnson is straight out nasty. McNabb will have his high moments and his low moments. Witten is studly. Your defense isn't bad either. Overall, I like your team and look for you to have a winning season, although just barely. Something like 8-5 seems about right. Playoffs? MAYBE MAYBE NO........ PhiSlammaJamma: Sure you got enough RBs there, bucko? Geez Louize. Aside from the RB squadron (which isn't even that super, honestly) your team is sub-par. I mean, Vernon Davis is your tight end.... c'mon. At least all your RBs will bring you consistency.... consistent suckage, that is! I foresee a winning percentage just a shade under 50% and no playoffs in your future. Boo hoo. SamCassell: A team to be feared. I like what you've put together. SJax and Gore are a powerful tandem, and while I'm not super high on Pierre Thomas, I can't deny his effectiveness as a second flex option. The recent injury is worrisome, however. I like Braylon Edwards and Marshall too (if he actually plays). Winslow and Rodgers are solid. The defense is a bit weak, but everyone has a weakness somewhere. Overall, a good team. Fadeaway: Live by the Brady-Moss, die by the Brady-Moss. So much depends upon the health of the Pats QB and Mr. Entertainment. I think Kevin Smith is solid, Gates is a stud, and I love Ochocinco, so I feel good about my offense. I like my defense too. The only problem with my team is that everyone is a little bit old. Two years ago, this would have been an uber all-star squadron of death. Now? MAYBE MAYBE NO. However, I will predict a playoff run, although it all depends on Brady's health. Rimbaud: I look for D-Will to finish about #8 of all RBs. I look for Wayne to finish about #8 of all WRs. I look for White to finish about #9 of all WRs. I look for Cutler to finish about #9 of all QBs. I look for you to finish about #9 of all teams in this league. As you can tell, since there are only 12 teams in this league, that means that you will suck. The only player on your team I like to outperform his draft slot is Lee Evans, but it won't be enough. So sorry (yeah right). Nwo: The prognosis is in, and it's not looking good. Westbrook and Warner are made of glass, and Larry Fitz has the Madden curse hanging over his head (or is it Troy Polomalu?????????????? the drama......!). Anyway, yeah, you guessed it. It's medicore. On the plus side, I absolutely loved drafting in the spot next to you because I could be assured that you would draft crappy players and never take any of the players I was targeting. Well, that's it. Please don't take any of my ramblings personally. It's all bloody guesswork anyway. From here, you have two choices. You can rep this post for the epic awesomeness that it is, or you can BUGGER OFF. I'm going to bed.
Good analysis.......I am not sure I am as sold on my team as you are. I am not sure what happened with Morrison/Willis thing (it's fixed), as it was part of my counter-offer he said he rejected. With that I think he wins in that trade as he gets his handcuff to oft-injured Jacobs, and my guess is Bradshaw alone out scores Moreno. Pigskin - I think his team is solid, could contend - I'm higher on Forte than you are, I had him last year and loved him. His QB's concern me. Greek - I'm with you there, Manning might still be on the waiver wire today. Moe - Like his team alot. Fade - Your team is well-balanced, strong at WR/QB/TE, not as much on RB - should be there at the end. PSJ - running the wishbone good team, fantasy football seems to have too many weaknesses, not so confident. Sam - strong team, really like his draft as one of the best. With you pretty much on all the others, still will be an interesting year - injuries, waver wire pickups, trades could change everything.......
I am confused, was this always a PPR league or am I wrong - because I notice our scoring doesn't show that? I may be confused, but I can't remember..........
Everyone remember to have their line-up set as week 1 starts Thursday night - need your line-up set right up to game time. If you have no one playing Thursday night, you can set it before game time Sunday.
