are you serious, is he signing as a player or coach.

in australia he was seen as one of those imports who isn't a scoring stud and was a team player (why a team needs imports as team players is beyond).

maybe it's just the way he was played (he played for two team Melbourne Tigers and West Sydney Razorbacks)

i lot of my mates had no time for him, i thought he actually had some talent, at both ends of the floors, although he always seemed make errors whent he big play was needed and it also seemed like he was trying to hard sometimes.

i thought i remember at the end of the year that he wasn't returning to Australia and was actually going to retire and work coaching clinics back in the states.

there are so many players in Australia better than him, not sure how he can make a roster, i would besume it is only short term, the guy who replaced him at West Sydney Willie Farley is a billion times better.......

must be bizarro land in Golden State but i presume it always has been

My neighbor is from Australia and is a big NBA fan. He keeps telling me there is a guy that plays somewhere in Australia by the name of Rooker or something like that. Says he has NBA skills but might be too old to ever play here.

    codell,

you mean Derek Rucker, great player here, must be nearly 35 yrs old now, only 6ft, and in nba would be a tweener, SG in a PGs body, just that downunder he can successfully and very well play the point.

I guess with the aussie accent my buddy has, it sounded like Rooker to me. My bad.

I guess alot of people that are considered scrubs in the NBA can have quite a nice career in Australia?

Another case of sports imitating society in general. :D

Thanks for the short-notice report, Smeg. Seems like Handy was hired as an extra practice body, since Sura is out a few more days with a strained calf. He's from the area (his listed hometown, San Leandro, is just a mile or two south of the Arena) and he played for Musselman in the USBL a few years back.

He might also be serving in a semi-coaching capacity. On a radio pregame show last night, Musselman mentioned someone -- whose name I couldn't make out -- working with Troy Murphy on drills to help break a backcourt trap. Thinking back, I believe that name was Handy.
