So, here in Austin they were only showing the Titans game today, and I found myself more interested in wanting to see the Texans. So, I went to Wings To Go, and watched, I think they are really going to surprise some people this year. They have drafted so high for years, once they start winning a switch gets flipped and they get good in a hurry. I have never really followed them all that much, was a huge Oiler fan, but for some reason, now that Carr is gone, I want them to do well. So, looking for a hand up to get on that bandwagon ! Still love Vince, but would rather watch the Texans. DD
Welcome aboard, but this is the last call.... As long as they play to win and not play "to not lose", it should be a great year! I think they have players that fit better and compliment better to have the edge...
It doesn't hurt that I have Andre Johnson as my star WR in my fanstasy league, he finally has someone that can throw him the ball....and it shows. DD
big test next week. hopefully andre is healthy. faggins is gonna be running circles if he puts up a repeat performance. i really wanna see what freddy bennett can do out there.
They have certainly turned the corner by finally dumping Carr and getting Schaub, but realistically this team will not make the playoffs this year. But a very good chance that it finally happens next year.
How can you say we wont make the playoffs? I thought we'd win 9...and that included a loss to the Panthers. I think we can possibly win 10. Remaining schedule: Indy Atlanta Miami Jacksonville Tennessee San Diego Oakland New Orleans Cleveland Tennessee Tampa Denver Indy Jacksonville Other than Indy and San Diego, all other games are winnable. It looks like Denver and New Orleans arent quite as strong as I originally thought. Jacksonville looks bad too. I say we win at least 3 within our division. That pushes us to 5 wins. Oakland, Cleveland, Atlanta, and Miami look like very winnable games. Thats 9 wins. Denver, Tampa, and New Orleans...we can take 1 of these for sure. 10 wins. Playoffs.
Eh, I think the Texans may balance that out by losing one game that they should win. 7 or 8 wins is a good season to me, but anything better would be great.
It's wide open this year, only the colts, patriots and the chargers (even though they are getting slapped by the patriots right now) have good top to bottom teams. Barring injuries, a 9 or 10 win season and wildcard is a legit possibility.
I really find it hard to believe that THESE Texans will only win 5 out of 14 games the rest of the season. At this point anything less than 9 wins would be a disappointment, especially with the relatively easy schedule.
i think 8-8 or 9-7 is a realistic guess. in both wins, the other team made numerous mistakes. we capitalized on them. if other teams dont make mistakes, we're gonna have to step up our game, especially our offense. even though we've done a good job of scoring, it's been mostly andre doing the heavy lifting. our other receivers need to step up, and jones and mathis need to get going on special teams. our run game has been pretty consistent, but not outstanding. our defense has been pretty good, but i still would like to see improvements in the secondary. our DLine has been solid, our LB corps has been decent, but our secondary allows way too many completions.
It is easy to get excited after starting the season 2 - 0, and the Texans do have a relatively easy schedule. But don't be surprised that a couple of games we would think should be easy wins turns against us. Look at the Saints last year. They had a great season, but they had such an easy schedule. They get overconfident and think they are SuperBowl bound. Now reality has set in on an 0 - 2 start for this season.
I've always thought this is my make or break year to become a true fan. Since the offseason and the early part of this I think I will make it. Always wanted to since day one, it just hasn't happened. I am definitely stoked about them so far. I still feel ill knowing I could have drafted Andre Johnson as a 2nd WR and didn't (I didn't see him in the stupid cheatsheet I used). They finally are starting to look like a solid team.
Exactly. 7 or 8 games would have been decent season at the beginning of the year, but now that we're 2-0 (including 1 game that most of us chalked up as a loss before the season started), anything less than 9-7 will be a disappointment. Like rezdawg says, our schedule only has 3 games that I don't expect us to win. Not saying we'll go 13-3, we'll probably have 2 or 3 stinkers in there somewhere, but 10-6 is what I expect now. It's nice to have high expectations. Maybe that's why we're playing so well right now. Kubiak and Smith expect us to win every game, unlike Casserley and Capers.
I'm so glad they are showing the Texans vs. Colts game next week here in Austin, because I've always been a huge Texans fan, not just a bandwagoner. Today, I had to stream the game on the internet. I do love more people jumping on their bandwagon, because those are the people that turn into full-time, die-hard fans, and that's what we need. I expect Texans to get some decent attention this week on ESPN because of the upcoming game. Considering the Colts struggled with the Titans, this upcoming game may be much more intriguing than people thought. Also, we were the last team to beat the Colts in the Regular/Post season.
