First of all, this is a non-story that should have never made it into a newspaper. I'm sure fans get thrown out of practices across the country for rude behavior. From the DMN: UT fans unwelcome at workouts COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Although Texas A&M's two-a-day workouts are open to the public, proper attire is required. Two fans wearing University of Texas baseball caps were escorted out of practice earlier this week. A&M coach R.C. Slocum said the two fans "showed disrespect for our team" by wearing the caps. – Al Carter On the UT boards these guys are being treated as heros. First, these guys were at an Aggie practice so they should have to follow the rules. Second, some say these guys were heckling football players. Going to a rival's practice to goof off is pretty lame.
On the UT board I saw, they weren't treated as heros. They just thought it funny that Slocum kicked them out. The Ags are the ones thinking it's the funniest thing ever. It is a story because they weren't saying anything until RC told them to take off their hats. The practices are supposed to be open, but obviously you don't have the freedom to wear whatever hat you choose. They only started heckling after that I think.
Both of them didn't get kicked out. They left voluntarily. How petty of RC though. I've seen OU shirts at UT practices. Of course, they are harder to spot. There's usually 500+ at UT practices. There were probably 12 at the aTM practice that day, so it was noticeable.
That's great. First the media guide fiasco, now they have a dress code at "open" practices. That's hilarious. I wish I could have seen the look on RC Slow-to-c*m's face. How insecure is he that he has to get on some fans about their hats? On a related note, a big bowl of Blue Bell ice cream sounds real good now.
