Anyone here take them to help fall asleep? Are they prescripted or OTC? Thinking about getting back on Ambien. I also take Benadryl once a week. To you guys that have the ability to fall asleep in the middle of a two lane road without pills....F&^% you.
I have some prescription ones. I don't know the name of em off the top of my head but they are very strong, so I try not to take them too often, but they put me to sleep within 15 minutes. I'll try to find the name of them and get back to you
I pick up a book when I'm not sleepy and I fall asleep immediately. And I'm a college student so fml..
Is it stress-related or physiological? I set the tv to auto-shutoff at 30 minutes; and the tv talk puts me to sleep.
my mom took half a lunesta and she sleep walked, ate a whole cake and washed all the dishes except the plate she found in her bed with crumbs every where. lets just say thats the last time she took them.
I occasionally take Temazepam. It's a very mild hypnotic that's not very addictive and it doesn't make me sleepy the day after.
I took Ambien for awhile and still do from time to time. Half my nursing class is on something to help them sleep. I got off the Ambien 10mg and started again on Xanax .5mg. The Ambien puts me to sleep. The Xanax lets me fall alseep on my own. And yes: screw all of y'all who can fall asleep easily. [/jealous rant]
I've taken some otc sleeping pills before. They seemed to do the trick. Then again Nyquil can knock you out too. I've also heard Night Wave works for a lot of people.
So great that you're up at 3 AM? Just kidding. Speaking of sleeping pills, I wish I had some right now....
2 tablets of OTC extra strength Unisom (50 mg Diphenhydramine) plus a heavy soup or sandwich should be enough.
I don't like taking it very often, but when I know I really need the rest, Doxylamine Succinate works very well for me and is available OTC. I remember buying mine at Costco and it came in two containers with a total of 192 pills for like $8. I think half a pill is sufficient. It's one of the active ingredients in Nyquil, but at four times the dosage. I'd recommend using it very sparingly. I remember the first time I took it, I couldn't pick my head up off the pillow once it took effect!
