This article doesn't tell us anything we don't know (or in some cases, are willfully blind to), but I thought it was a decent cumulative summary of how broken and fundamentally flawed the Admin's terror/ME policy is, and how incredible it is that a person of average intelligence (the President) can stand up there with a straight face under the fallacy that it's even coherent

Sam, I am at a loss as to why Bush continues to act this way. A spoiled brat who if he holds his breath long enough always gets his way? A sociopathic liar who doesn't realize that the American people are now on to him? Imparied reality testing-i.e, a form of psychosis? A religious fanatic, albeit of a bizaare nature? A pawn of a deeply Machiavellian Cheney or right wing that still thinks that by holding firm, regardless of how disastrous our Iraq debacle is, they can continue a 50 year theme that only the GOP cares to defend the country? TheCarlysle Group makes a bundle as long as we blow $10 billion a month in Iraq and they can still do Iran? HIs Israeli neo-con buds just love to see Arabs kill themselves? It gives his oil cronies a chance to have $4 per gallon gas and blame it on AArabs.

    Got me.

The answer for a lot of the inexplicable behavior of the admin is, I think, traceable to one phenomenon - a certainty born part of religious conviction but mostly helped along with a tremendous dose of arrogance. It's crystallized in this famous blurb from 2003 or 2004:

LOL, my god what a stupid thing to say - it would be funnier if it did not have such tragic and far reaching results. If there was a theme for the Bush Administration over the last five years, it would be "Reality Bites"

Considering that al qaida and OBL have more or less openly admitted that there new strategy is to drain America financially via long and never-ending wars, I'd say our stupid actions in Iraq are more than emboldening, they are exactly what al qaida wants.

    Bush isn't the gullible nit-wit

    We are.

We are the ones that don't get it.

Bush is doing exactly what he is told to do. His mission is accomplished. What he says doesn't really matter- he has acheived all of his objectives.

He allowed 9-11 to be a pretext for the two invasions.
Our military is securing the things that matter most in the region- oil reserves, access, pipelines and the Caspian Basin. We have a large portion of our military might within 100 miles of most of the known existing oil reserves in the world.

I would say Bush is doing quite well.

The only part of his mission that is incomplete is taking control of Iran.

Bush is not trying to fight terrorists or stabilize Iraq Bush is securing the interests of bankers and industrialists.

But we don't understand the 'game' because we don't believe in that stuff.

If you are analyzing Bush you are about ten years behind in what is really happening in the world.

Absolutely true. Documents have shown that they wanted 911 to lure the US to an overextended struggle in Afghanistan just like the USSR to show that we are bullies but can be fought to a standstill. That didn't happen but Bush basically gave them that outcome in Iraq. It is funny when Bush continues to say that AQ wants us out of Iraq. No, they really don't.

I was at the vet waiting room so I saw the press conference and at times he really got pissed by the questioning. My favorite (and I am surprised the article didn't mention this) was when he basically said this war was being fought to stop AQ from killing our children. He repeatedly said it was for our children. Such tactics seem so obvious to me. Obvious and sad.

if you think this is "decent summary", then, my, how standards have fallen. it's about as cogently argued as one of glynch's posts.

See? This is exactly what I mean about creating your own reality.

If you have an issue than post it.

By your silence, I am taking a NEGATIVE INFERENCE that you cannot respond.

Really how can you? I mean the President's arguments are so flatly illogical they're almost impossible to support. Of course you're not going to respond - you can't, because what he says is not an argument - it's just the truth.

And every time you have it has been with simplistic propaganda that's been immediately refuted, after which you have gone poof. Every. Single. Time.

Not a single thing you have predicted or promised here has proven true; all has proven false. You have the egg of the dodo permanently affixed to your face. It is amazing you still have the nerve to post here. It is anything but amazing that when you do it is only to repeat five year old talking points.

Cute. You've posted the exact same thing in the past. You don't have a single answer for a single argument and you haven't for five years. What motivates you to continue posting here is totally beyond me. You stopped debating around the fifth time your supposed proof of WMD's was definitively refuted.

Yeah you repeat the same ridiclous tenets that the President does agaiin an again.

    But we're past that.

Repeating the same refrain again and again, does not address the inherent deficiecies with that refrain, which is what is under discussion.

Let me give you a microcosm:

    GWB/you: X + Y = Z

Critics: But there is significant evidence that X is not X, Y is not Y, and together they don't = Z

    GWB/you: X + Y = Z

Critics: But your argument is inherently flawed, like I said

GWB/you: you obviously hate Z, you are a terrorist, you want them to kill our children.

See what I mean about creating your own reality? It really could not be more plain(ly embarrasing, for you).

Please OH please let this be some form of feigned sarcasm.

Really, you think worldly politics, wars, deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, corruption to no end, and general cowardice should be blindly followed based on what state you are from? Now thats some backward ass thinking only republicans can come up with.

You may truly believe that you have. But there are numerous questions posed to you in a spirit of honest debate which you ignore and never answer. The evidence pertaining to those questions almost always seem to directly contradict your theories about Iraq, and the war on terror, or the Bush administration etc.

You may believe that you have already covered it. In your head I am sure it all makes sense. But to everyone else on this board you haven't made your case, there are contradictions, gaps, and errors.

Since I presume you don't post on this board to read your own writing, but to engage with others, then you could put more effort into defending your positions, and explaining your take on what other people believe to be mistakes in your logic or evidence. Without spelling those connections out, it does indeed make it look like are running away from debate or just ignoring mountains of relevant evidence.
