Somewhere, Mark Cuban is cackling maniacally: “And rest assured, the Nets are disappointed enough to listen to offers for Harris — they just don’t expect to get anything done with any of their six core guys before the Feb. 18th deadline. But they’re not exactly considering him (sportswriter cliché alert) an untouchable anymore. Why should he be tenured, anyway? His jumper’s broken. His defense, by and large, is still poor. He’s injury prone. And he’s still young and talented enough to bring back a very good return, given his contract (at least if you pair it with one of the expiring deals). But even if the Nets think they could do better, we find it very hard to drop all the blame of this 3-34 nightmare on this kid’s head, for a number of reasons.”

The nets were going to fail regardless, if they kept or traded Kidd.

Harris has hit a slump of all slumps when it comes to shooting. He'd be a good pick up for a contender looking for a solid PG.

I think the atmosphere has something to do with his playing woes this year. He's not the only reason they started with the lonest losing streak to start a NBA season.

He wasn't even around when the season started. I bet Harris is still slightly injured, which is probably why he sucks this season. The guy was being considered for the All star game last season, and now he's trash? C'mon now

The lakers need a good PG. You think they would be interested in this?

If they trade Harris, they can kiss any chance of landing LBJ goodbye.

Harris is a slasher, and he's not fully healthy.

Wouldn't that depend on what they got in return? What if they trade him for Chris Bosh, Al Jefferson, Amare Stoudemire, etc? Hell, even Carlos Boozer.

IMHO they'd be better served by just shelving Harris for the rest of the season and just tanking. Nobody wants to watch them when they're this awful anyway, winning just hurts them in the end. Just shelve Harris to let him recuperate next season. Then if they get number 1, draft Wall and trade Harris for a good PF. On the other hand if they just end up with 2,3 or 4, then just draft one of the good PFs that are coming out and court LBJ with a max contract and the prospect of playing with Lopez, Harris and a lottery PF. I dunno, that sounds waaay more enticing than New York without a draft pick or staying in Cleveland with Ferry at the helm.

Only thing they could possibly offer the Nets is Artest and Brown. I doubt it.

Yep, a penetrating PG, that can not penetrate is sort of handcuffed.

Imagine Tony Parker shooting nothing but jumpers.

Given his development of plantar fasciitis, we might not have to imagine it. It ended Mark Price's career, and he never relied on his jets.

that's because they are seeing Wall going their way. They might not need Lebron.

Healthy Harris can play defense and lead the league in scoring. I don't even believe the Nets want to trade him but if they do someone will luck out. The influx of ridiculously good point guards over the past 2 seasons have diluted his worth.

Personally i don't feel that his injury is the reason to this shooting problems or any other areas where he is struggling. I watched a couple of the nets games, and he looked fine to me.

IMO i feel that it is because they lost carter. He has become the center of the offence right now and opposing teams are doubling him a lot. He is having trouble getting to his comfort zone (free throw line extended) for his mid range jumpers. I just don't think he is suited for a number 1 option. He is a great player, just not that good. He needs another reliable perimeter player to take pressure off him. Also their offense SUCKS. their coach is abosolutely trash. Their offense consists of zero movement and just wait for their guards to dribble the clock down. Of the 6-8 games I have watched them play this year, I can't remember one play where they actually ran a proper offense. It is just plain ugly to watch.

Price may have been the most underappreciated, overlooked Point stud of the last quarter century.

Harris is one of the best in the league at getting to the line when healthy.

He got to the line 605 times in only 69 games last season.

Honestly, if they get the number one pick - they could be in a position to field an INSANE team next season. Imagine the following scenario:

Step 1. New Jersey drafts John Wall.
Step 2. New Jersey signs Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire.
Step 3. New Jersey signs Lebron James.
Step 4. New Jersey trades Devin Harris for solid roleplayers.

New Jersey now fields the following team:

    PG - John Wall
    SG - Lebron James
    SF - Chris Douglas-Roberts
PF - Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire
    C - Brook Lopez

    6th man: Yi Jianlian

bench: Courtney Lee + whatever they can acquire for Devin Harris.

That's already a RIDICULOUS seven man rotation. And
there is no way you can't get at least two solid bench players for Harris.

I feel like this would make the East interesting.
