    SLAM magazine slams T. Morris! why in the hell would we want him on the Rockets!!! There are probably 20 better players, that will be available at #23, and unlike Morris they dont have head problems. PLEASE nobody give another BS reason that Morris is tanking the workouts to be with the Rockets. This is a business and if he fails to make the first round, then he gets no guaranteed money, PERIOD.

    KEN JOHNSON, is the man at #23

    2001 NBA Draft Preview
    by Lang Whitaker

    With the Chicago draft camp underway, we're about two weeks from knowing where everyone stands -- who's staying and who's going where.

    --> None of the high schoolers are in Chicago right now, basically because they didn't want to screw up their current lottery status. But SLAM writer and possible number one selection Eddy Curry is currently working out with MJ's personal trainer, who has said that Eddy's 13% body fat reading is excellent for a man his size.

    --> According to our NBA scouting contacts, here's where things stand right now...

    ON THE RISE: Jamario Moon (Meridian CC, Miss.) is this year's long shot. He turned heads when he did a vertical jump of 12'4", setting a camp record; Jamison Brewer (Auburn) can do everything but shoot; Omar Cook (St. John's) is playing himself up the first round; Jeryl Sasser (SMU) has had the tools forever, and he's finally putting it all together.

    ON THE SCHNIDE: Eric Chenowith (Kansas) has played himself out of the draft altogether; Gerald Wallace (Alabama) keeps throwing up bricks; Jason Gardner (Arizona) is stinking up the joint and saying he's still not returning to school; Terence Morris (Maryland) was a lottery-projected pick last year. He stayed and played and now isn't likely to even get drafted. Hasn't helped that he didn't show at Chicago; Ousmane Cisse (HS) is falling like a rock. Too bad he can't go to college now;

    This article is a joke if they really think that no one would draft Terence Morris. The guy may not have had a stellar senior season, but his previous seasons were great. The fact that they think no one will take a chance on a guy of Morris's obvious talent and potential tells me how much credence I should give them.

    I don't care about the workouts so much. Morris can run, hit threes, block shots, get steals, and does a little rebounding on the side. Excellent role player to have in a zone and to aid in breaking it.

    Not a creator. Francis and Mobley can create so this isn't a huge problem for the rockets at the #23. Shandon and Pippen were upset about having to stand behind the 3pt line. Morris does this naturally. Don't expect 18ppg, but 12 might be right in a year or two.

    Reminds me of a tall Dickerson with less handles on offense and a short Horry on defense.

    I LOVE reading SLAM, but if they are the guys you're getting your draft analysis from, perhaps you should find a different source.

    They appeal to the mainstream a little too much to be objective sometimes. Plenty of talented players get absolutely NO run in there because they're not popular, 50-foot jumping dunkers.

    Besides (and I'm sorry to harp on this) Morris will go somewhere in the 20's anyway, in fact, at #23. Rebound, shoot the 3, defend, post up, run...he'll be just fine.

    Houston will likely be graded B- after the draft for taking Morris but that's just plain ignorance. Vince Carter averaged about 15 as a senior; look at him now. (Not that Morris is on that level, I'm just saying...)

    So Slam is the almighty draft god now? Since they don't want him we shouldn't either? Slam is about nothing but appealing to young viewers who understand nothing about winning basketball but just about those one-handed windmills that so many of you fantasize about Gerald Wallace doing in a Rockets uniform. They completely ignore the fundamentals of the game and the players that have those simply for players with flash. Some of the features can be cool, but that is the last place I would turn for an objective profile of draft candidates.

    Slam knows nothing about basketball...all they know is hype. They continually make every player they write an article about seem like a superstar...if he is popular.

    I am sure they hate anyone who stays in college for 4 years.
