man i hope rafer can play like this every night, i some times wonder what he is doing jacking up all those bricks but it worked tonight. he seems to be a nice guy so here is to hoping that this will boost his confidence and he will continue to play big while t-mac is out. (and thereafter) anyone notice bonzi looked quite good tonight too......"rounding" into shape.
Rafer didn't jack up shots today, all his FGs in the last quarter (where he usually collapses) were drives to the lane. Rafer is a good point guard when he penetrates
We all know he can't keep it up. For once in his life he finished several plays or at least got fouled.
True, unfortunately for Rockets fans. I wish he could develop his floater better, he is good at getting into the paint.
He was shooting the SAME shots he shoots every night. Like I said, these are the shots he's, likely, directed to take within the offense by JVG. He still took a good amount of shots, second-most on the team-- as he has been doing. Other than that, his game was what we expected-- low TOs, good number of assists, sufficient rebounding at the backcourt spot. He's also become our most dependable secondary scorer in TMac's absence.
This is ridiculous. This thread is aggravating and just pathetic. Rafer plays a great game today, and he gets bashed for it. He played an excellent ballgame today, and I hope he continues to play well. He had a tough outing against LA, but he has been very consistent with his ballhandling all year. His shot is shaky, but so is everyone elses on this team not named YAO. Get off Rafer's a$$. He's a solid pg, and he's done a good job for us this year.
When Rafer played for Raptors, he seemed to play more consistent that he played for houston. Maybe he drove to basket much more often then. You can see from the game log. He put on double digit scores consistently. He also had some nights with double digit assits. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3282/gamelog;_ylt=AlIviOGnTiDWX_aDJk3aaJGkvLYF?year=2004
Matt Bullard doesnt agree with you. and fwiw, Id trust him over half this board anyday of the week. He has made some mistakes(a few turnovers and a few bad shots), and been less than stellar for the most part on D...but as far as the rest of his game...he has been solid.
Yes. I do watch the games. People get on him for his shot selection. yea, thats fine. I've been watchin him play all season, not just the last week. I thought he played a pretty good game against GS two game ago. If I'm not mistaken, he had 19 pts, 6 rebs, 8 ass, 0 to's, 2 steals, and was 5-10 from the 3 pt line. He did struggle on defense that game but he was up against a very good GS backcourt. He has had very solid games this whole season, but everyone tends to focus on his bad games. That's why I feel like I'm defending him in every other thread. He is the scapegoat on the Rockets. If we lose, its his fault and only his fault. If we win, its cuz everyone else except rafer is a badass. I think its time we give him a little respect and appreciation for being the floor general on this team.
The last 2 games before this he was horrible. Poor decision making down the stretch. Shooting way too much.
Well-said. It's terribly funny to see how fans on here praise the Walking TO (Spanoulis) and the NBA's version of a college walk-on (Lucas) and to see all the hate against, arguably, your third best performer this season, and a player who has stepped up his play considerably when no one else has.
at LA 19 pts (1-6 3s), 10 asts, 6 rebounds, 48 minutes at GS 19 pts (5-10 3s), 8 asts, 6 rebs. vs. LAL 4 pt (0-6 3s), 1 ast, 1 reb at Wash, 12 pts (2-4 3s), 3 asts, 4 rebs, 2 stls His only dud the past 4 games was the home game against the Lakers, which ALL the core players played horrible. Not excusing him, but just saying. Other than that, he's played pretty solid. More so than you can say for a lot of our guard play this season.
Does anyone know where is the Rafer rank in the PG? I knew there is some website has this kind of stat.
The thing that disturbs me about Rafer is when he made a very stupid mistake during the Lakers 2 game. Hayes got an offensive rebound and he passed it to Rafer. We got a fresh 24 shotclock and he threw a trey over a defender and nobody was there to rebound and the shotclock was still 19 or 20 that time. That's the stupidest thing to do. What was he thinking? I like that guy but making that kindergarten mistake I started doubting his IQ. Maybe he needs to go back to where be originally belongs. But I'd like to give him him another chance.
