Anyone out there play this? I started it a few days ago and am loving it! Most fun I've had with an RPG in a long time. It has great graphics, a superb soundtrack, a fun storyline and a setting which is just plain cool. Plus, the boss battles are actually challenging for a change, unlike most other RPGs out there (Final Fantasy series, etc..). The executioner in the colliseum must have killed me about ten times before I managed to beat him. The Angel of Death girl and her dog were pretty challenging too -- I think she killed me about 8 times before I beat her.

Anyway, as a RPG connoisseur of sorts, I highly recommend this one. If you have a Cube and like RPGs, go get it now!

Is this the same title that is on the Sega Dreamcast? (I know, I still can't break down and buy a PS2 yet.)

I heard it was a good game, but I haven't bought it yet.

Coolest game I've seen yet is Stargate:Defender. OMG! can you believe how many buttons are on that game. Graphics are the best I've seen imo.

did they tweak the random battles?

waaay too many in the first one on the DC, really detracted from my enjoyment.

I didn't find the bosses that difficult, though I do remember that executioner killing me once or twice.

and i don't care what you say, there are some ****ing tough boss battles in ffx. :)

Crisco: Do you have a DC? Is Arcadia worth buying? Any other recommended titles?

I don't know if they tweaked it or not, but random battles don't seem to be much of a problem. There are hardly any inside dungeons. The encounter rate is higher while travelling around in the airship, but not unbearable. Anyway, I absolutely love the main battle theme, so I wouldn't mind anyway.

I don't have a PS2 so I haven't played FFX. That's the only one I've missed, though. The FF series has sort of lost its luster for me. I just don't remember having as much fun with FF8 and FF9 (or Chrono Cross for that matter) as I'm having with Skies.

Fatty -- it's the same game, but from what I hear, they've streamlined it and added extra stuff.

Oh, and although I've become disillusioned with Final Fantasy, I'll almost certainly still buy Crystal Chronicles when it comes out.

I liked ff8, but it was a wee easy. ff9 sucked. CC was bleh.

ffx was good tho, imo. coulda been better esp toward the end, but some of the bosses were really damn hard. and the minigames were a b****. Took me 3 agonizing days and a lot of cussing to complete one of them.

Still haven't beaten all the extra bosses or minigames in that one. Tho I will sometime.

    The lightning bolt game? ;)

Frustrating minigames are a pain in the hole. If it isn't fun, then it shouldn't be in the game.

Good minigames make all the difference, though. The Iron Chef challenge in Suikoden 2 is the best thing ever.

nah, never got around to the lightining bolts, doesn't sound that tough though.

The minigame I did was a bonus dungeon that had 10 treasure boxes in it. You open the first one, fine. But from there on out you have to use your internal clock and open up the next chest in seconds divisible by 3. Sounds easy, but there's no leeway, the boxes were seperated throughout the dungeon, and using clocks don't really help.

Each chest you open gives you a greater treasure. But mess up once and they all dissapear. Kinda fun, cuz it was easy yet challenging. And the last treasure was awesome.

My fav minigame has to be the card game in ff8. But I also loved that basketball machine in the arcade of ff7 ... :)

I found the Chocobo race where you had to get less than 0:00:0 seconds to be much more difficult than the lightning bolts.

I hated finding all the freaking hidden Cactuars in the desert to get the Ultimate Weapon for Rikku (who was basically a useless character _in combat_ unless you didnt have the foresight to train someone besides Yuna to heal)

But you didnt need the Ultimate Weapons to beat Sin. I did it with only Yuna's. So screw the minigames.
