Rockets (2): Tracy McGrady insists he will miss Bonzi Wells, but the Spurs won't miss having to keep him off the offensive glass if they meet Houston in the playoffs. Still, Bobby Jackson was a tremendous trade deadline pickup for a team that badly needed a reliable backup for Rafer Alston at the point. He already knows Rick Adelman's offense and has one of the biggest hearts in the league. Oh, yeah: They've still got that 7-foot-6 center with the sweet shooting touch.

Wow Rockets are getting some love! I believe we have a good chance to push for homecourt advantage but number 2 seed? In our monster division? Hmm maybe if the Spurs rest Duncan early for the playoffs, Dallas takes awhile to adjust to Kidd and vice versa while the Hornets falter during the stretch run with their killer schedule. :D

I sure hope Bobby Jackson is still as good as this writer thinks he is.

Why do all the other Texas Team's papers give us props? Rockets #2 in the West from San Antonio. That Dallas writer has us winning the Finals with its preseason projection. If I was a Spurs or Mavs fan I would be pissed.

I think the Texas writers operate in a similar way that our writers (Blinebury, Feigen) do. To quell the rabid homerism of their local fanbase, they have to assume the buffer position and praise their team's rivals to make it all even out in the end. That and if their team happens to choke (*cough* Dallas) they'll be right there to say I told you so.

well the way the rockets have been playing i believe they can beat anyone.

i still don't think that makes them the second best team in the west.

if they were concerned with bonzi's offensive rebounding, carl is going to give them major headaches.

I saw the Suns play today: they look awful. I think they might have made a strategic mistake. The West is crazy good overall, though.

Right now the Rockets have a record of 35-20 precariously perched in 4th place in the SW Division 2.5 games back from the front runners. Dallas is in third place one and a half a game back with a 36-19 records. San Antonio and New Orleans are tied for first with identical 37-17 records.

In the overall Playoff standings the teams still in the "hunt'

    As it stands right now,

    Lakers are the 1 seed
Spurs and Hornets are tied for 2
    Phoenix is the 4th seed
    Mavericks 5th
    Rockets 6th
Warriors and Nuggests tied for the 7th and 8th playoff position.
    Portland is a close 9th

    Pretty crazy!
