He's out after just half a season as Larry Brown's replacement... so says Stephen A. Smith.

I think it's a combination of Iverson's latest tirade and the Big Dog himself not getting enough playing time this season. No word yet on who his replacement will be. Could this be a Rudy T situation? A player's coach that would pander to Iverson and other vets, not to mention he would be reunited with Kenny Thomas. Is RT under a binding contract as "scout" with the Rockets, or is he free to take any other job if it's offered?

ah, I see the Sixers are taking a page from the Houston Rockets guide to basketball personell decisions...Fire the head coach while your star player is shooting 39% on 24 shot attempts per game, averages 4.5 turnovers, and b****es about his teammates to the media...

Ahh, turns out it will be Chris Ford to replace him. The last time I saw this guy, my alma mater's Division III basketball team was wiping his Brandeis University Judges off the court. If you check the record, I think this guy has been a loser everywhere he's been.

Not exactly. He won a ring as a role player with the 80-81 Celtics and later coached them.

Ayers was overmatched @OSU, and even moreso in the City of Brotherly Love...too bad, he's an ok assistant -- but not head material.

Is he interim or full? If Rudy wanted to coach them, he'd have to get the Rockets' permission (which I'm sure they would grant, probably for free). They should try to get Rudy next year. I think he could do good things with the 76er squad.

As far as I know, it is an interim situation for now. But look at Lawerence Frank in New Jersey. If the guy starts winning and keeps winning, it's going to be real hard not to remove that "interim" from his title.

Just me, but the scenario I envision is Rudy T to Portland. Mo Cheeks to Philly.

Did Jeff Van Gundy get fired? If he didn't then you're using revisionist history because Rudy T. didn't get fired because of Steve Francis. He got fired because he lost complete control of the team after about 3 years of trying to keep order.

I'm talking about using the coach as a scapegoat when it's clearly the players' fault for the team's struggles. This season is proof that the Rockets are no better with Van Gundy than they were with Rudy T...

I thought that Rudy T. resigned and accepted another position within the Rockets organization, was he ever actually fired?

He wasnt actually fired, but if he didnt resigned, he wouldve been fired, kinda like how Dierker was on his way out with the astros.

Rudy T never lost complete control of the team. However, he did lose enough of it for him to resign (or be fired).
