The premiere of Season Three begins tonight on HBO, 8p CST. I think there was at least one other person on here that share my feelings that this is the best show on TV today, so there ya go. It's rare when you have talented actors and a great writer together on a project.
RM, Did you get to enjoy the rest of that show after the first 20m? I was too drained after that to get into the rest of show. One of the most profound moments in TV right there. Everyone's entitled to a few minutes of teen girl hysteria, so here's mine. YAY!! I LOVE THIS SHOW!
For those of you who missed it, here's a quick recap: Nate: "Blah, blah, b****, whine." Claire: "Moan, b****, blah, b****?" Nate: "Blah, b****, whine, whine!" David: "b****, moan, whah, whah." Ugh. Has there ever been a show filled with more miserable people? I've watched Six Feet Under since day one, but the ceaseless gloom is starting to grate on me. If someone on that damn show doesn't cheer up quick I'm going to need therapy.
Hey, at least we didn't have to deal with Brenda just yet! coma, we kept thinking that it was going to be another dream.
What a mind f@ck the first 20 minutes were. My wife was like, "no they didn't". It was interesting to see what all the actors had to say in that little promo spot afterwards about the turns the series will take this season.
She was great in "Blow", one of the most underrated movies of all time, IMHO. I agree with Mrs. JB, I'm sick of the whinny characters. Claire and Meadow Soprano give teenagers such a bad image, that's how I think of them all unfortunately, even though I know a lot aren't spoiled depressed brats. Other than that, the opening scene was unbelievable, I would have been floored if David didn't make it through the operation, and the whole alternate universe thing was very profound.
Yeah, I know, I'm shunning my own kind. Her character just reinforces some of the negative stereotypes people have about vegetarians -- weird hippies who are out of touch with reality. I guess for me, being a vegetarian isn't how I define myself, it's just one of my traits. I have to know someone pretty well before I start divulging that info. In fact, one job I worked at, no one even knew I didn't eat meat until I'd been there for six months. Even then it only came up because we were ordering pizza and I had to explain why I didn't want pepperoni.
You should watch 24, then. Kim Bauer is the best female, teenage character ever invented. She's a real piece of work.
I agree. Her character has been pretty one-dimensional and cliched so far. As for Brenda, I hope she's back soon! I thinks she's just about the most interesting character on the show.
Its a great show, and I look forward to the vicodin-addicted Kathy Bates character. Lisa does suck, but I read that things get really interesting once Brenda returns......
I love the show...but so far, I'm angry. (1) I HATE LISA!!!!!!!! I mean really hate her. As messed up as Brenda is...Lisa must be a walking DSM-IV. (2) Frederico needs a butt whipping. Also...somebody needs to explain to him the concept of "minority partner." He is outvoted by Nate & David. Ugh!!! (3) This guy that Clair is seeing is a real jackass. And now she puts up with it? What the hell? This better get good and soon. I don't want to watch every Sunday just to be pissed off.
Don't you get it, all of the kids, David, Claire, Nate have relationship issues I guess because of their parents relationship and the their relationship to their parents.
The fact that it can invoke such an emotion is a testament to how great this show is. I love the character development on this show. Anyone notice how Keith is starting to let his physique go soft during this depression with his current job? As for Frederico, man, that guy gets on my nerves. Nate and David need to have a serious talk with this guy. I also thought the Kathy Bates character was pretty funny. As for Lisa, I think Brenda's return will coincide with Nate and Lisa's breakup. That line about going to do it, or try to do it - HA! He shoulda smacked her in the face. Keith put it best when he said her perspective of her life is so out of touch with reality. Oh, and how much do you want to smack Lisa's boss!?!?
