I doubt Doc's talking about a Hakeem-Cato package. Who could pick up ... $22 million or so in salary? Rather, Cato's injury leaves us with no center if and when Dream departs. And since Cato's injury could be the "monkey wrench" and no team would sacrifice $22 million in cap space at this point in the season(if a team could afford it) a third team must be invloved, one to take Hakeem and one to take Cato, but what are the Rockets getting? This should definitely rule out the possibility of us dealing with the Grizzlies (stray up that is). My thinking is that in order for Grizzlies to part with SAR, Country must be attached to it, meaning we would still have a center after the trade. But if this is a 3 or more team thing... Anyway, I never really thought that we would get SAR anyway. Why would we get SAR right after Rudy just promoted Cat to the 2 spot and move Anderson to the 3 spot?
Because i don´t believe that will work in the long run. If Cat doesn´t back Shandon at the 2 or vice-versa, they would both have to log 40+ minutes each night, and i´m not sure if they can keep that up. Besides, rudy likes Cat´s role off the bench. The current line-up is simply putting our best players on the floor. With SAR, shadon could split his minutes at the 2 and 3, and SAR himself could split his at the 3 and 2. I don't know of Cato being involved in anything, but I did fear last night his injury (2 weeks... meaning he will most likely go on the IR) could do something. How could a partially torn rotator cuff seriously delay any trades? All the Rockets should have to do is throw in an extra 2nd round pick and things will get moving. Alright, now could someone clarify the IR rules. Is there no room on IR for Cato without bumping Hakeem. Why would the team put Hakeem on IR if they plan on trading him. I know this way out there,but with Shaq demanding a trade at the end of Dec.,and the problems between he and Kobe,Maybe the original deal was Shaq-Daddy for Dream, Cato,and picks.With dream's contract expiring,it would help the Lakers with the cap or they could resign him or for a small prdetermined amount.It definitely gives the Lakers more flexibility and perhaps they think that Kobe's developement is being hindered.The Lakers would be crazy to do this and I would NEVER deal the big man,but ....just a thought ------------------
