    That's gross.

I'm all in favor of shifting more minutes to Thompson, Holiday, Eason and Smith and having them take more of the shots. Holiday has a good ASST/TO ratio as well, and Eason and Amen are great on defense. You can still bring in Cam and Sheppard for more development as well behind those guys.

    Thompson, Holiday, Smith, and Eason
    90 min per game

    Sengun, Green, Brooks, and VanVleet
    130.4 min per game

    SC- EFF

    Thompson 1.458, Holiday, 1.391, Smith 1.250, Eason 1.222 (29.8

Sengun 1.216, Green 1.174, Brooks 1.123, VanVleet 1.064 (57.2 FG attempts per game combined)

    SH - EFF

    Holiday 0.62, Thompson 0.58, Smith 0.53, Eason 0.53

    Brooks 0.51, Sengun 0.48, Green 0.
    47, VanVleet 0.46

    ?

    $55.4M

    Green ($12.5M) + VanVleet ($42.9) = $55.4M
    https://www.spotrac.com/nba/houston-rockets/cap/_/year/2024
Green and Sengun extensions don't kick in until next year.

I wanted Tyus Jones in free agency, who makes about $3M with Suns.
    It would have been $15.5M
    Green ($12.5M) + Tyus Jones ($3M)

But would we be challenging for Cup or near 3rd in the West?
    Can't be happy huh?

We might be worse, we might be the same,......we might have been better.....who knows?

I thought Green only makes 12 million this year and 30 next year.....

According to math, that should be 52-53 million.

This back court needs a desperate and urgent change. Madness/insane to try same thing over and over and over again and then expect different results. Either Green or Fred need to be swapped with Amen.

How they plan to proceed with FVV / Jalen and the cap is the big question going forward. Amen, Jabari & Tari seem to be the future of the franchise, you have to be able to keep your best players (Sengun is already paid, calm down SOF's). Two of them extension eligible next year and the other a year later.

I almost feel like they need to move FVV this season rather than wait for the offseason and either picking up that option or extending him - even if it's at a lower number. He's not really playing up to the contract or even close (neither is Jalen).
IF they don't make a move and simply allow him to expire, they will have ~$11.4m in cap space & 5 open roster spots with a huge hole at the point and few resources to fill the void - not to mention, if a team uses cap space, it's limited to the room exception to exceed the cap, no "MLE or BAE". The room exception is about half of the NT-MLE.
They could decline Holiday & Landale clearing up to $24,384,525 with 7 open roster spots.

As it stands now, they are a top 4 seed despite the terrible shooting from this guard tandem .... thanks to their defense. I really can't see sticking with these two and being real contenders with such poor efficiency. Picking up that $44.8m option for FVV just seems self destructive.

Offseason moves seem very limited because of the financials - ~$11.4m to $24.3m in cap space or <$8m room exception - as the numbers stand currently and that could change with any deal sending out any of the expiring contracts on the roster - Adams, Tate & Uncle Jeff and possibly FVV, Holiday & Landale.

Is there an in season move that solves the PG spot? What about an offseason deal that fits the financials?

Our offensive savant center, the next Jokic is scoring on 53% ts... Our BIG MAN offensive hub is scoring lower efficiency than a lot of low efficient scoring guards. Jordon Poole is more efficient than Alperan Sengun this year. Let that sink in.

Maybe... Just maybe our offensive system is utter doggy doodoo?

One of the most frustrating parts of the offense is doing random actions just to get a generic pnr set initiated. Like sometimes it seems like we just do dho actions at the top of the three point line just for aesthetics. There is no rhyme or purpose to these actions. Most of time it just results in the guy the set is designed to give the ball to being successfully defended from even getting the hand off. This is why you'll have these random entire quarters where Jalen won't even touch the ball and then his mind believes after not being involved at all has to take 3 straight ill advised shots.

Its so easy to ice out players the defensive team is wanting to ice out in this system. So many times you see opposing teams prevent Green from receiving the ball from a dho action.

It's the offense. Open it up so Jalen can flourish

you can't blame that on coaching or offensive system

This is true - and the Rockets are making the playoffs this season.

They look like a top 6 team at this point.

However - this team isn't winning in the playoffs without a #1 scoring option.

To this point in the season, Jalen Green has been a massive disappointment.

Maybe in a year or so - Amen or Reed or even Whitmore becomes "that guy" but they are not right now.

What you saw in the second half against OKC is what will happen in the playoffs with the Rockets until they add a top creator/scorer.

The coaching is very good - the effort from most the players is very good - the defense is elite - the depth is as well.... but the Rockets lack top tier offensive talent outside of Sengun.

Sengun the big man scoring a 53% ts?

Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun have the same scoring efficiency.
