About the contract re-signing, Yao said:"I'm not thinking too much about this issue, and I don't think there's any problem between us about the contract re-signing."

When Yao was told that the Rockets would sign a long contract with him first of all, he said: " wow, I like to hear that, i like to stay here as well. If the Rockets are willing to sign a long contract with me, I'd love to sign it."

Well, that's kind of given. A player wouldn't be signed if the team didn't want him.

They'll get that extension done around mid July.

...except those idoit Laker reporters who keep resurfacing rumors that they'll sign Yao next summer.

As the first words from Yao (correct?) on the extension I have to give this a 5-Star rating.

We can use the money (on Yao) to sign one of those 4 or 5 players on the Dallas team that are head and shoulders better than Yao.

You do realize Yao scored the second most points (Tmac had the most) in the entire series right.

Not to mention the BILLION other things that are wrong with your statement.

I thought his parents opening a restaurant here was a pretty good sign he was going to stick around. :D

I've spared myself looking up the "is Yao a max player?" threads, but it's been a given since halfway through his rookie year. And I've fretted about how he would get along with JVG and wondered what he would make of the fact that he and Moochie are the only other guys on this team when he got here.

Our organization is probably the most familial in all of sports, hell even JVG has been touched by the warmth. But I still liked hearing Yao's comments.

I mean even if you're terribly homesick, miss your girlfriend and generally just need a saner culture, a max NBA contract after your third year is really hard to pass up.

/yao is lying, because according to a certain "closet" Laker poster, Yao is a bust and we should trade him for Chris Mihm and Odom while we still can:rolleyes:

Really? I'll bet it's pretty difficult to find another team that had the 2 highest scoring players in an entire series and still lost.

I'd love to have Yao in Houston for his whole career..the guy is a class act and a solid role model for the community.

We have a great core in Yao and T-Mac the only thing we need is the right pieces to surround them.
