I'll just sit back and see what happens. I won't get too disappointed if we make or miss the Playoffs. In theory it's a win-win situation.
Logically I want the pick . There is a better chance that it can help spark a retooling than "playoff development ." However , I do have to acknowledge there are a lot of variables . What if we get hot from behind the arc ? What if the team(s) we play are cold ? What if an opponent gets injured ? There are no small number of scenarios that can drastically change our chance for success. I can't root against the team , even if I'm pissed and jaded at this season so far . I want us to win out , and if we make the playoffs great , maybe they can show me something . If we don't , then it will close the book on this nightmare season and how we bounce back from it will be pivotal in deciding the course of this franchise for a long time . To not make the playoffs when you have a healthy ( playing ) Dwight and James speaks volumes about the number of flaws in those two players and with the rest of the team . We have some talent deficiency , and more importantly we really struggle getting what talent we do have to play well together . Overall , I hope we make it to the playoffs , perform well , but then stay realistic about the team and its overall performance . If we go on another run is it a fluke ? Say for a minute we beat GS / SA on our own merits . Then make it to the wcf where we fall short ... What is the plan ? Can you in good faith break that team up ? A b2b wcf team . There are so many questions and variables , but I think the more exciting path is to make the playoffs for what might happen .
Assuming we sneak into the playoffs now and lose the pick, don't be surprised if we see the '86 WC Finals again... in reverse. We steal game one, shocking the Warriors, and the board goes absolutely nuts. Then we lose 4 straight.
Why ? I can understand a late lottery pick is an asset but we already have Dekker and Montrezl, we are not going to get a star. The pick will be probably pan out in a couple of years as a useful bench player. I don't care much either way.
****ing sucks ass. Only a miracle will prevent us from making it. Thanks a lot, Rockets. Lose the draft pick and get an ass-whooping by Dubs. ****ing awesome. http://espn.go.com/blog/nba/post/_/id/17597/tuesdays-kings-links-five-players-shutdown
Man...when did this fan base become a bunch of quitting puss***? Playoff basketball is its own season now..:so quit all the crybaby bullsh** and get behind this team
It's not about a star, we need serviceable players or could also use the pick in a trade package. Much rather have that flexibility/prospect than seeing us getting slaughtered by GSW. To Pete: You can talk about pride, being a real fan bla bla, but everyone should know that we're fodder for every serious team and that there will not be any miracle ("Playoff basketball is its own season now"). A flawed team that played abysmal the whole season won't suddenly be a different caliber just because it's postseason. A pick would've been much more valuable.
You can pick up serviceable players throughout the draft. Damion Lee is a perfect example, look him up. Would be great here. Bring on the Warriors
I am not trying to be a prick (it just comes naturally) but it's time to put all that behind us now and move forward. we are playing Golden State in the playoffs...enjoy
I am not trying to be a prick.....it just comes naturally.....yeah, let's hope so, I wouldn't wish the "unnatural" version on anyone. Whatever that might be. Yeah, I was looking forward to the pick, but Utah choked, so now I can look forward to a good old-fashioned ass whipping at the hands of the Warriors, and trust Daryl to make something happen in the offseason.
If youre truly a fan of the game of basketball why wouldnt you want to see your favorite team compete with one of the greatest teams in the league. Winning a game is like winning the wcf again
Wait are we relying on the Jazz losing to the lakers? What happens if both the rockets and jazz win tomorrow?
