I was thinking about picking up this game..is it any good ? Is it like the "sims" playing golf ? cause I didn't like that game. I played another sid m. game ....civ III and thought it was like watching paint dry...I do like golf games though.
It's a different game from any other golf game you'll play. Basically, you start out with a plot of land, and you need to build a course on it. Players must like the holes, you need to keep them happy, rested, etc. while continually adding more holes, and playing golf with your character so he can play in tournaments. It's a fantastic game. Download the demo before buying it though. However, if you do want to get it, Circuit City has it for $19.99 (where I got mine). It's very different from the "sims" playing golf, but it shares some elements. It's better than Civ 3, which was IMO the worst of the 3 civ. games.
As long as your think of Sim Golf as a corse builder along the lines of something like roller coaster tycoon, you'll be happy. You are basically building and managing a golf course. You get to play it also, but not like other golf games. I have fun playing the courses since you can plan your shots much better than a golf game like Lynx. Don't get it for the graphics, but they aren't too bad. There is no first person view of the corse you make, so don't expect one. If you go into this game with the right expectations it's a blast. I played it for 2 or 3 weeks straight, even when I had Warcraft 3 in my hands. Only problem was I started having too much fun playing War 3 with other CC.net people and now Sim Golf has taken a back seat. If you do get it, I can send you an 18 hole course I made. B
I picked it up and have started building a course.....pretty cool game. If you send me the course I'll check it out daro7@excite.com I guess it would be small enough to send that way ? One ? .. if I gain skills playing on a course ..do those skill points carry over when I start a new course or play someone elses saved course ?
