I don't disagree in most cases, but in this case, this isn't even news... this is essentially a one-man campaign from Rosenthal. (seriously, does he owe Trachsel a favor or something? He sure comes off like it.) On the subject, upon further review, Trachsel is aging, lost several mph off his fastball last season, and posted a 4.97 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP. That concerns me. I think it's likely Nieve and Sampson both have better seasons. That said, considering Garner's recent comments that Wandy has a "leg up" on one of the spots, it might be worth signing Trachsel to prevent Garner from sticking Wandy in the rotation.
