I'm going to take my time with it. And the right decision is going to be my last decision,'' Payton said. "Three weeks or four weeks will come and I'll make it known where I want to be.''

If that isn't Milwaukee, coach George Karl hopes Payton, whom he coached for five seasons in Seattle, will at least agree to a sign-and-trade deal so the Bucks get compensation.

How about sending Mo-t and Rice + draft picks and maybe some money for GP?

Milwaukee get's some free cap space for 2004 FA. And a legit inside scorer in Mo-t. Mo-t could do a lot of good in the east for the bucks. They want a scorer inside, because Caffey, ervin, mason and przybilla ain't scorers. They can get a great FA when rice's contract expires and they get some future draft picks and/or money.

Houston get one of the best (maybe the best) PG in the L. Houston can finally get the pass-first PG, and maybe run up as contenders....

Then Houston could try to send Cat and Griffin to the Clippers in a sign and trade deal where Houston could end up with Brand and Wilcox/Ely/Dooling/Wang/or Jaric. The clippers would deside who they want to send away. Clippers get a cheap good vet in Cat and a big talent in EG. Maybe Houston could swing in some money or draft picks to make it come true. Most likely money to their cheap GM....

Then resign Pos.

If this comes true. Houston are contenders for sure.

Seattle:
Cassel/Redd/draft pick
Mason/Redd/
Thomas/Kukoc
Taylor/Mason/Gadzuric
Johnson/przybilla/Gadzuric

Clipps:
Jaric?/Dooling? miller will probably go to utah
Mobley/Maggette?/Piatowski?
Odom?/Q/Magette?
Griffin/Wilcox?
Ely/Wang?/Rooks Olowokandi is leaving...

Maggette and Odom is FA. And the clips would decide who they would want to send to Houston in the sign and trade deal.(Wilcox, Wang, dooling, jaric or ely)

Houston:
GP/Mooch
Steve/Pos/Hawk
Pos/Nachbar/T-Mo And the player clips would send.
Brand/T-Mo
Yao/Cato

I think it could work out for all the teams. But it's probably not going to happen...

What do y'all think?

Mo T for GP.....All I have to say is hell no!!GP is getting older and his defense isn't the same. That's giving up too much for little in return.

haha...i don't think we'd have to worry about having to turn down something like that. We'd get laughed at and taken for stupid idiots if we tried to trade a loser like MoT for GP.

I hope thats some sort of joke.

If not I am sure glad as hell you are not in charged of the Rockets. If someone turns down Gary Payton for MoT they should be shot in public.

Well, we dont have to worry about losing defense by trading MoT for anyone in the whole world. Hell, GP would be an upgrade on MoT's defense if he played PF!!!:D :D

I would still go ahead with the trade. What Payton can bring to this team is priceless. Think about it...

Here are Paytons Stats:
* bold indicate important statistics

Ranks #2 in the NBA in Assists Per Game(8.3)
Ranks #13 in the NBA in Steals Per Game(1.66)
Ranks #10 in the NBA in Minutes Per Game(40.1)
Ranks #11 in the NBA in Minutes Played(3208.0)
Ranks #12 in the NBA in Field Goals Made(665.0)
Ranks #14 in the NBA in Field Goal Attempts(1466.0)
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Assists(663.0)
Ranks #13 in the NBA in Steals(133.0)
Ranks #19 in the NBA in Points(1634.0)
Ranks #3 in the NBA in Assists Per Turnover(3.55)
Ranks #15 in the NBA in Double-doubles(28.0)
Ranks #19 in the NBA in Field Goals Per 48 Minutes(9.95)
Ranks #7 in the NBA in Assists Per 48 Minutes(9.9)
Ranks #16 in the NBA in Total Efficiency Points(1694.0)
Ranks #18 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking(21.18)

So what is Payton going to provide us?

1. A Great Play Maker: How? Assists = 8.3, Turnover (only 2 in 40 minutes)
2. Great Defender: How? Steals Per Game = 1.66
3. Efficent Player: How? See Above (Ranks 18 in NBA in Efficiency Ranking)

So what do the Rockets need?

1. A point guard who knows how to pass the ball and make other teammates better
2. A point guard who does not turn over the ball
3. A point guard who knows what he is doing :D Efficency

This is what Gary Payton bring to the game every night. How can you pass up on this guy? I haven't even mentioned his scoring yet.

So to offer this trade

I would do it in a heart beat! :D

Only question is, would GP want to play for the Rockets?

This type of trade is just what the Rockets need.

Say what you will about the Glove but I'd be excited to have him on my team, period.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have him on the Rockets but thats to much to give away.He is going to be 36 by the time the next season starts and Mo T is only 26-27.

Payton can give you about 2 years of good basketball left.Mo T has a good 7 to 10 years left.

Payton wants to go somewhere he can win next year. There is no way he signs with Milwaukie just to be traded to us when he's free to sign with any team (Lakers?) that would give him a shot at a ring.

Does John Stockton ring a bell? I think Payton could give a couple more years then just 2...

Payton is not an option. But I will rather have Cassell and Desmond Mason for Cat, Eddie and Cato.

huh? moT? 7-10 years? please. moT has the potential to be another oliver miller. he'll eat himself out the game before anything else. toe and knee excuses won't work for him... like it does for some people.

i agree with the payton part of the trade. maybe get a couple of three point shooters to make him more effective assist wise. don't get me wrong, i'd love for the rockets to obtain brand, but payton and brand... both... in one offseason? i've learned not to get my hopes up.

Omega, U know what I meant about how many years Mo T has left. He is still young and has alot of years left in him IF he stays healthy and in shape. I was just saying that Mo T, Glen Rice, and future draft picks aren't worth giving up for Gary Payton. They better throw someone else in there too!!

Hey people. We can dream. And it's a wishful dream. And man. It would be awesome.

I agree deeply. Maybe Payton doesn't want to go back.....cuz Milwaukee isn't doing that great. Maybe they can't afford him. Their power forward position SUCKS.

If Payton left...that would mean that Cassell would then take over point guard fully again. Then Michael Redd would be given the chance to develop. Desmond Mason could also start at 2 or be a backup 2 or 3. Tim Thomas would be the starting three. Mo Taylor would give them inside presence in the East. Now center.....is the problem for them. Heh.
Glen Rice....they want.....since they have financial problems and his contract expires. Glen Rice, Maurice Taylor OR Kelvin Cato. Let them choose...if they wanted Cato instead. Sure!
Sam Cassell/Michael Redd/Desmond Mason/Tim Thomas/Kelvin Cato. In my opinion.....that's a pretty young and athletic team right there. If they want a post game....then they can have MoT instead. And add 2 Second Round Draft Picks or a 1st Round Draft Pick to make it more attractive.
DO NOT CRITICIZE. I AM DREAMING.

Maurice Taylor or Kelvin Cato, Glen Rice, and a 1st Round Draft Pick or 2 Second Round Draft Picks
FOR
Gary Payton and Jason Caffey? or Marcus Haislip.

Elton Brand....should be making at least $10 million per season. Cat and Eddie make a combined $7.2 million per season. The trade would not be possible.

Cuttino Mobley, Eddie Griffin, Terence Morris, and a 1st Round Pick for Elton Brand and Marko Jaric would be fantastic.

Gary Payton/Marko Jaric/Moochie Norris
Steve Francis/Juaquin Hawkins
James Posey/Bostjan Nachbar
Elton Brand/Marcus Haislip or Jason Caffey
Yao Ming/anybody!

What a dream!!!!! Let me dream about that now......G'nite! :D

Bucks:
Sam Cassell/Anyone signed or Rookie
Michael Redd/Desmond Mason
Desmond Mason/Toni Kukoc/Glen Rice
Tim Thomas/Jason Caffey/Marcus Haislip/Anthony Mason
Kelvin Cato/Joel Pryzbilla/Earvin Johnson/Dan Gadzuric

Clippers:
They have so many free agents.....don't know what they will do. But getting Mobley and Griffin and Moochie Norris? or Terence Morris? and a 1st Round Pick would be nice for them.

Rockets:
Gary Payton/Marko Jaric/Moochie Norris?
Steve Francis/Juaquin Hawkins
James Posey/Bostjan Nachbar/Terence Morris?
Elton Brand/Marcus Haislip or Jason Caffey
Yao Ming/Jason Collier?

WHAT A DREAM!!!!!!

No one can complain about Rockets with Francis at the 2.....with a tough defending point guard who can literally defend power forwards. And who can run an offense. And is a veteran. And can teach the other players basketball. And cannot complain about a rebounder and shotblocker and very good power forward who wants to win.....and a 7'6" guy in the middle who can shoot.

Man.......LOVELy.

I can almost guarantee Payton doesn't want to play in the Leastern Conference. I think we could get Payton if we added a couple more pieces. As for Payton going to other teams..well..I don't think L.A. would be intrested in Payton because the offense runs through Shaq and Kobe. Where does Payton fit in? Plus Payton is going to be asking more then L.A. will be willing to offer or afford. Spurs will most likely go after Kidd if they want a better point guard. Kings already have their point guard of the future in Bibby. That leaves 2 other teams...Dallas, who has Nash and Van Exel. Who does that leave besides the Rockets. Portland. I think the Blazers are going to make a strong bid for Payton. Reason is that Portland besides all their faults, they have an unbelieveable team. The only position they are really weak at is point guard. There line up consist of

5. Davis/ Sabonis
4. Randolph
3. Sheed
2. Wells/Paterson/Antonio Daniels
1. Damon/Pippen/Jeff McInnis

With Payton in the mix...this team is going to be unstoppable. Also consider this...Blazers own Paul Alan said there is going to be some changes this off season. I wouldn't be suprised if there is some player movement as the Blazers always do. Payton would be a good fit and the Blazers have a billionaire who likes to spend. I would bet money Payton lands in Portland of all places.

I would like to see Payton in Houston but I doubt we would be willing to spend the kind of money Payton is going to ask for. Plus, I would rather have a servicable point guard and spend the money on getting a true powerforward...

If Payton wants to stay, they'll trade Cassell first. His contract is ok, plus he's still a pretty good player. If Arenas leaves GS, look for a sign and trade with those 2 teams. GS has a load of big players and if they lose Arenas, Payton could go home and play on a good young team. One thing GS has that Milw needs is big men. Foyle,Fortson and maybe a future pick sign and trade for payton at 3yrs 36 mill probably could do it.

Houston is a better team than GS so I don't think he wants to play there.
And Foyle or Fortson ain't scorers inside for Milwaukee. It's more resonable that they accept Mo-t and rice + draft picks or money. Houston could be the contender GP is looking for.
