I saw Rashard Lewis arriving in Orlando last night around 6:30 at the Orlando Airport which is said to be a suitor for him. Sorry no pictures, and I didn't get a chance to ask him about the Rockets either!
The Orlando airport really kind of sucks. It definitely feels like a small, homey, quaint city when getting off the plane.... which might be what Rashard wants, especially if he's going to get paid. But it is a stark difference from IAH.
That's stupid. Especially considering the recent article stating that Lewis was in Orlando having dinner with their GM.
I just dont see what the attractoin is there for someone that supposedly wants to win. Lewis added to taht team isnt going anywhere. This is the smart move for him however. By going to Orlando the only team that can sign him outright, he has put in Seatles heads the thought of losing him for nothing. This will surely get Seatle thinking we better take what we can get for him while we can aproach.
They made the playoffs last year, and had some great stretches, and some bad stretches. Adding Rashard while losing nothing (maybe lose Dark if add Rashard) would be great. As Dwight Howard gets better, no reason they shouldn't be a perennial playoff team and a few signings away of role players that should help them advance. Plus, Rashard gets paid, and is in the East, meaning a better shot at becomming a perennial all-star. I'm obviously biased for Houston, but can see why Orlando would be his top spot. Whatever the case, I just hope its not Seattle.
Maybe he's taking a 9 day vacation to Disney World and Universal Orlando and right after his vacation on July 11th he'll take a one way ticket to Houston and sign a deal with us! Shocking Orlando and giving them false hope!
How come Orlando is always under the salary cap? I remeber when they tried to sign Tim Duncan. Then it was Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady at the same time.
The owner is cheap and never allows them to go over the luxury tax. He says they'll be able to "dip into the luxury tax" every year, gets the fans hopes up, then never does what he says. This happens every year.
Just tell him you'll spot him the extra 40 million plus he'd be losing by coming here instead of playing in Orlando!
I considered that it might be a joke, but it seemed so far from funny that it didn't seem possible to me. Besides, I'm so used to people getting bashed for things like having any sort of inside info.
With Rashard, it's about the money this time. AFTER he signs the huge guaranteed contract, then winning becomes #1. That's the way it works in the NBA.
