So yeah I'm back in the Woodlands from Austin for the summer, and I NEED a job. Of course I'll be back in Austin once fall hits and it seems no one, NO ONE, wants to hire just for the summer. So today, after three rejections, I decided I would turn to the wise CC.net Sages with their infinite knowledge and experience. Can you guys reccomnded places to hit up that are typically looking for Seasonal/Summer employees? I'll take ANYTHING, somehow related to my major (Elec./Comp. Eng.) would be nice, but I certainly wouldn't expect that at this point. Thinking of hitting up Splashtown water park and the movie theaters when I get REALLY desperate... any other thoughts? Thanks, I know I can count on y'all!
Too late, I just gave away my webmaster job to someone else. Even it pays 9 dollars a hour for pretty much doing nothing, still had a really hard time to find someone who's willing to do it, sugar land really is a rich place.
My job is hiring. Its no the highest paid job in the world, but as long as you have patience, your all good: http://www.ev1.net/english/jobs/
Ah... useful information with a side of humor, thanks guys! Extra thanks to Dave and Supermac, I applied to both and either one would be fantastic, I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Damn it, I've applied at like twelve places and none of them have called me back. Somebody hook me up.
I am looking for summer internship as well (in computer science). I have applied to about 8 - 12 places but no luck so far. hey Dave2000, I have applied for that web hosting positing on EV1 about a week ago, but I haven't heard anything back. (I have all the requried skills for that position) You think you can hook me up?
I work in the dialup tech support department, sorry about that. I'd give them a call or even go up there to show that u are interesterd, its not really that hard to get a job up there, to be honest, its my first job and have been there for 4+ years.
Get out of the office and experience the real world... http://www.fs.fed.us/fsjobs/step.html http://www.sep.nps.gov/
Thanks Dave, I applied for the ev1 job also. BTW, does anyone have any advices for interviews. It's my last summer as a college student and I would really like to get some real work experience in. I feel for some reason, I just don't do as well as I would like during the interviews. Also, I heard it gets easier to find full time employment as an EE after graduation, but how does work for someone without technical work experience and a average gpa (3.0)?
Make sure you actually do some searches and apply to all the different internships. They have different hiring managers, so they might hire you for one if they deny you for another.
That was the very next thing I did. Thanks for the suggestion, I never would have imagined companies would still be looking to fill internships at this point, guess that's why ya never assume!
Yeah, its kind of weird. I think they weren't planning on hiring very many, but since they posted such good numbers last quarter, there was no reason to not get some interns. I know we were getting an intern, had them picked out and everything, the req was frozen about a month ago, then they opened it back up last week, so there are some reqs that are just now getting out there.
