By the way, do we have a trifecta here? I believe each has had to bring out the “no one would/could/should believe me” or “I lie/fabricate/embellish for entertainment” defense once their shenanigans met actual real world repercussions.

    1. Sidney Powell
    2. Alex Jones
    3. Tucker Carlson or <insert Fox News personality>

Republicans 2024 platform “we were just joking”

And sadly they’ll still have a shot at winning.

Idiots, if that defense works then there is no hope for this country.

It’s the convenient Republican mantra. Give us all the power in the world at all cost, and when we have to be held accountable just claim it was all an act for show.

what’s interesting is Fox News (and newsmax) has that precedent but folded fast

seems the 1.3b might be a bit too risky for them or is on different legal ground

Yep. I saw the article about Sidney Powell and was thinking there is a pattern here.

This is something I brought up in the thread regarding those on the rights criticizing social media companies for "censorship". The argument goes that these companies shouldn't be censoring content even if it is misinformation because of "free speech" . There are many problems with that argument but ignores that there are real world consequences to this content. Whether it's an act or not people have literally died because of the misinformation spouted out there.

That Powell and others are admitting that much of what they say isn't true and shouldn't be taken true is again more of the "party of personal responsibility" claiming no responsibility.

It really says a lot about what they think about their dumbass base. The idiotic cult members around me will still be defending and regurgitate these theories by Sidney, Rudy, and dear leader trump.
