When Landry and Scola are on the floor together, Landry is generally put on the more capable offensive threat defensively. Anyone else notice that?
I don't know but I always find it hilarious that we never see scola at the end of games...just makes me laugh for some off reason .
His defense has gotten much better. He's actually above average at guarding people on the perimeter now and even sticks with guards on pick and roll switches. I think by next season we will consider him a slightly above average defensive player. I'm a bit surprised that he needed some motivation or reminders about taking care of his body. He always came across as a self-starter but it sounds like he needs a bit of a mentor to keep his focus during the off-seasons. Respert is earning his paycheck by keeping Carl focused even if that's all he does.
Yes,I have. Do you have stats to show if that has made a difference? The one thing that he does better defensively than Luis is block shots, but they aren't good defenders.
Actually I would say Landry is a good one on one defender... WHEN he puts his mind to it. So it doesn't surprise me that he's on the better offensive weapon. You saw him zone in playing defense on Jefferson after Chuck fouled out. He CAN play defense, he just doesn't do it on a regular basis. I think he loses focus more easily on the defensive end and that is why he has breakdowns on defensive rotations. Which imho is his biggest problem at this point defensively.
Nice read, you could tell Landry was embracing the role of a scorer/rebounder, I like the fact that he hasn't gotten big headed like most would and demanded to be in the starting lineup. We know how easy it is for that to happen to someone with all these divas running around in the league. He really appreciates the chances he gets and does the best he can. This part of the article stood out to me as well. I'm glad to see that he's working on his biggest weakness. He may not win DPOY but his D can definitely get better and it will.
Landry is more physical defensively then Scola and usually when it is shown that Scola is having trouble defensively, Landry takes over for Scola. When both are getting worked over they bring back Hayes. Doesn't mean that much.
I've tried to tell him, but it seems his grammar and spelling are that of a 4 year old. Started to get a bit better though with that post.
