The Presidential election will be important...for Jay Leno if Shrub enters office -- because the jokes will write themselves. For the rest of us, it's important because the next President will decide the next two or three Supreme Court Justices. ------------------ Not only have the Drew bashers crossed the line, but they've sprinted a couple of miles beyond it.
The Nader supporters are shooting themselves in the foot. Sure Nader will get his 5% but it will also get Bush into the White House. http://www.voteswap2000.com/default.asp Here is a voteswap website. It is under the honesty policy of course. Here is how it works. People from various states sign up. For example, I sign up from Texas and some Nader supporter signs up from Michigan. Voteswap will partner us up together. The Nader supporter in MI, a toss up state, will vote for Gore, and me, living in Texas a Bush state, will vote for Nader. Therefore, Nader gets his 5% and Gore wins. ------------------
Shrub? Is that supposed to be some kind of insult to Bush? Can't you do any better? I mean, Al Bore or Al Hore is a whole lot better than 'Shrub', and that's just off the top of my head.
No they're not. What's a hore anyway? ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
I don't think Leno is going to suffer from a lack of material no matter who the next president is. There's plenty of things in our government, and nation, to poke fun at. He has stated that he will miss Clinton, who has provided much of his material over the past 8 years. ------------------ Stay Cool...
Seems very immoral to me, kinda a way of cheating the system. ------------------ Remember.... You are not really drunk until you must hold on to the grass to keep from falling off the earth.

not anymore immoral than republicans running pro-Nader ads that show hiim criticizing Gore but leaving out the parts where he criticizes Bush. The Republicans will spend more on Nader ads than the Green party will.
Jay-Z Seems very immoral to me, kinda a way of cheating the system. Would this be the same system that'd allow a canidate to win less than half of the states in the Union and win the election? ------------------ It doesn't matter if I have a signature!
Not only that, but the one person who puts in the electoral vote doesn't even have to vote for the popular vote either. Imagine if they didn't. I'm sure someone has changed the electoral vote to whatever they wanted. Does anybody know if it has happened? It's a system designed to not only represent the majority, but in desperate times, protect us from the majority. It's crazy, but it works if you ask me. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
It's extremely frightening that something like that could happen. Makes no sense to me why they aren't at least legally bound to vote with the majority. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
AhPook...thanks for the link to the EC article. Fascinating stuff. ------------------ I am the b*stard son of LHutz. Huh? Right!
I don't think it has -- or really can. The electorates from each state are chosen by the political party of the candidate who wins -- and are frequently honarary rewards for the party faithful. Unless they become disillusioned with their candidate and party between the time of the election and the time the electorate meets, they'll vote for the state winner. ------------------ Stay Cool...
I had remembered that Reagan got one electoral vote in 1976, but I didn't know the circumstances surrounding it. Noting that article, though, having an elector vote for someone other than the candidate he is "pledged" to vote for is exceedingly rare. ------------------ Houston Sports Board The Anti-Bud Adams Page
It's still odd that there's no written law saying that they have to vote for the state. We know it won't happen, but just to be perfectly safe. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
