I appealed for a ticket for last Fridays performance, and after a response from Batman Jones I was able to get in on the standby list. Now I havent been a "theatre guy" for a long time. I used to go a lot more when I was younger. However after seeing this performance I am determined that I will now be supporting the IBP company on a regular basis. This was simply a heartfelt performance from a group of dedicated performers. I was not familiar with the music and story behind Daniel Johnston, but to see the story enacted was really quite moving and stirring. Many thanks to Batman Jones for helping me out. And of course please go and see this show!!! Speeding Motorcycle reminded me that this is what theatre is all about! eek
Speeding Motorcycle is an amazing piece of theatre. I don't think anyone could have done this production like IBP. They are an awesome bunch. GO SEE THIS SHOW and take someone with you!! The music is awesome, the colors are vivid, the show is memorable and heartfelt. It is a moving and beautiful show! Thanks Batman Jones & IBP for this fine piece of work! http://www.infernalbridegroom.com
hmm....I was so confused for the first few sentences. I thought you were caught speeding on your motorcycle and Batman Jones helped you appeal the ticket, like by taking it to court or somethign.
Thanks rockHEAD and eekamouse. And thegary and heypartner and others who have pimped the show before. I've posted a lot about it here because I like this place and because I feel it's the best thing I've done -- it's certainly my favorite -- and because it's happening in Houston where most of the board's population lives. On Wednesday the New York Times will run a feature on the show and then the remaining performances will sell out pretty much immediately (they're half sold already), so this is a last push to encourage anyone here that might be interested to go ahead and make reservations. It is, as eek and rH said, a really good show. And I'm really proud of it. I don't need you guys in the seats cause they'll sell out anyway, but I'd love it if some of my internet friends got to see it.
I can't say whether or not it will run a second time, but I can tell you (from credible IBP sources) that it will not be extended due to schedule restrictions with new shows at IBP. This may be the only time you will get to see this production live, unless another theater company takes it on.
