Shouldn't fans be happy that we even have an NFL team?

When the Oilers moved out, it had to be one of the worst moments in Houston Football history, it should be up there with the Bills collapse. Fast forward to 2002 when we finally get NFL football back in the city. Remember how happy everyone was to finally taste the NFL once again? And how about them Texans winning their first game over against the Dallas Cowgirls?

Now move along to present day and it seems as fans don't appreciate that we have an actual NFL team. Just think about it, our last grasp on Pro Football could have ended with the Houston Thunderbears in Arena Football. But good thing that's not the case. We have an NFL franchise, not the best one, but at least we have a team to root for, games to go to and a management to criticize.

Then, Vince and the Traitors come along and bumrush the city. Now I'm hearing people say things like, "the Titans are the real Houston team...." or "The Texans have to earn the Houston name......" Seriously, what kind of crap is that? This fourm could have easily been "Thunderbears, Astros, Comets" instead of "Texans, Astros, Comets".

If thats the case, than all you unappreciative whiners and cry-babies would have no team to complain about. No team to diss and ridicule their draft selections. What would you guys do then when there is no NFL home team to hate? The Texans are good for both the homers and the haters so just appreciate the fact that we have an NFL team. Because I sure rather cheer on a bad football team, then to set home on Sunday and watch other teams play that really don't matter because they don't play for Houston.

I think it's merely frustration of the product we have on field.5 years and this is what we get. Frustration of what could have been.(Ex. This years draft)I'm pretty sure everybody is excited that we have a football team, but we need change big time.

I'm Still a fan, just not of David Carr.

People still spend their hard earned money going to the games. They still spend their time posting on message boards and calling into radio shows.

Don't be an ******* and make everyone feel guilty for being upset about a team that they put so many of their own resources in.

What crap man. If no one cared about the team like no one cares about the Comets than you would have a point to make.

Go look for trouble somewhere else.

So... when they win... what are they? STFU, man, really... everyone's so negative about our Texans' production... you can't ever be optimistic about anything? Not you necessarily, the futants, but just all Texans' critics in general.

    When have they won?
I honestly dont care if Houston had a football team or not, I'm not a huge football fan. And a team like the Texans doesnt make my interest level go up.

Vince and the Traitors? As if the Vince or the other players had anything to do with moving the team?

And do you seriously expect people to say "Well, they may suck, and they may not show any effort whatsoever to improve, but that's OK. They're at least out there getting paid millions of dollars to be the worst at what they do. Yay for them and for me being able to witness them!"

The Texans suck. I know it, you know it. Should we discuss how happy we are to turn on CBS and see a Houston team on rather than discuss the actual team?

i would rather not have a team than the sad crap that currently reprsents or city.

    It is shameful

and the name - texans? what a joke..

and yes I am from here and their crappy decisions have caused me to go from fan, to fan of seeing them eat crow every weekend. At least the Oilers were loveable losers.

These guys were so damn cocky about how smart they were about mario williams. BS they were smart because they did not have to spend as much as they would have with reggie bush and signability was a key. They said that themselves.

Not winning, not going with what the fans wanted - signability. Nice ownership

I have not been a fan since that day and I now get joy from seeing this joke get abused over and over. It makes me feel good in a weird way. and I did everything to try like them..sorry with cocky ownership and know it all approach it like seeing my ex boss sink the company with his decisions. There is a certain sense of joy.

It felt good to see vince run them over and stab it in their chests. It was great and I am not a UT fan nor alumnus either.

D carr doesnt seem to mind either he just smiles on the sideline as his team gets whooped repeatedly. He is too worried about his hair anyway.

I am becoming a saints and titans fan as a result of the texans and what they have done since they became 'our' team.

So you are going to blindly support them? Well then good for mcnair not you because they suck and will continue to suck while he lines his pockets with your money.

All the good will that was there from the night we beat dallas is sucked out. nice job mcnair, kubiak, carr, capers , and the jackass yankee GM we had ( cant remember that idiots name)

The texans suck and should move to the same town where you live submitter- loserville

No. You can only like your home NFL team if it has the name you want and selects the one player that you are in love with because he was the quarterback for the college that you went to.

All of Houston pro sports teams have severely sucked for periods of time. Anyone here remember the Oilers of the early '80s? This isn't a first for me and I wont support another city's team because of it.

    That is beyond lame.

Like I said earlier, I really dont care, I'm not a Texan fan and not a big football fan. Just cause they're from houston is not a reason to root for them. Its no lame to not root for Texans because what is there to root for? The Oilers had some good seasons as well as bad seasons. At this point, I dont see the Texans turning this team around for 3-4 years.

The Rockets haven't made it out of the first round of the playoffs in 10 years. What is there to root for? I guess I should become a Dallas fan.

it's sad/hilarious/ridiculous that someone would even feel the need to create a thread like this 5 years into this team's existence.

I'm pretty sure they've made the playoffs at least and I see them try hard on the court and off the court. They make big trades, they spend money, and do what they can to improve the team.

Hell yeah I'm happy we have a team here.
I was depressed and basically didn'f follow the NFL on Sunday's when there was no team here. There was a real void!

I remember the Oilers 2-14 season..they were pathetic....but it was football on Sundays. A reason to watch and root for the hometown team (or listen on the radio back then since there were no sell-outs).

I love football on Sunday's....as American as apple pie.
Not having a team took something away.

Once Carr is gone...I honetly believe things will change. Carr is a cancer and he needs to be removed.

All the other cancer's that plagued the team for years are gone (Casserly, Capers, Palmer, etc.....only cancer left is Carr!!!!!

I love the Texans and having a true hometown reason to watch the NFL on Sunday's. They suck now...but I'd rather have a crappy team to be passionate about than to not have any team at all.

Why should we be "grateful" for simply having a team?

It's not like they were free.
