Should we set a pick ( by PF ) for Yao to make him get the ball easier ?

Should we set a pick ( by PF ) for Yao to make him get the ball more easier ?

I mean every time he get the ball he is tire from exhaustion. If we let Juwan Howard set a pick him then he will get the ball easier, also he may post of against the other team PF. Which he should dominate......

    Sincerely,
    JVG assistant coach....

I'm still available if any body want to hire me!!! Please !!!

Are we not employing low post cross-screens? I have to admit, I've not been watching much of the games lately, considering how ugly it's gotten.

To be fair, sometimes it's tougher to use a cross screen than to simply post up when you're Yao's size. The defenders don't hesitate to hold and body check when you try to get past them.

That works great...when Yao is in the HIGH POST, where he can fire in a jumper at over 50%.

Instead, we park Yao in the LOW POST, where he gets bumped, stripped, and falls down.

for a assistant coach, you sure dont pay attention very well.

let me give you a lesson in the real world.

whenever Yao goes up against a smaller quicker player(transplanted 4s playing the 5 especially), he struggles more since they are almost universally able to get around him and deny him the ball.

I would rather Yao go up against a real center than a PF.....look at his numbers when facing a real center...he almost always does better.

btw....they run all sorts of screens and backpicks tryin to free up shooters(including Yao)....they just cant seem to make the shots..

btw btw....the exhaustion factor is way over-exaggerated....his problems come more from taking too long to get his shot off and bringing the ball down to where the defenders can swipe it away.

but the bright side is that in the last few games, I have noticed that he is getting better at starting his move as soon as he gets the ball....and his aggressiveness has been higher...Im thinking he will get his shooting straightened out soon and then things will really get moving for us.

Yeah, we employ them allright. Yao sets most of them. That's why I think Spoon should start at the 4. Spoon sets better picks than any of the big men. He is bulky, and I think Yao would prosper coming off a low screen set by him. Besides that, let Spoon roll to the basket for the offensive board or the pass back for the layup. To me, this is Spoon's game. He is the best rebounder of any of our 4's. Let him set the picks for Yao and crash the boards.

They do apply the screens down low for yao but the thing is that IF they are going to do that then the post entry passer should pass the ball right before yao gets set so Yao has to come to the ball quicker instead of setting up and then passing the ball in. That's the whole purpose of the screen is to get Yao the ball with a small window of space between him and the defender. Their timing is off on that pass into the post off the screen.

Please tell me that you Patrick Ewing and I will have an excellent day.:)

By the way... If you are, then could you knock on the door of Mo Malone and ask him if he would like to drop by the Rocket's Office?

    Thanks.

    Sincerely,

    IMO yes

the best plays can come in the pick and roll is something that i love to play every time i play because you have three defenders on you our maybe four and with open pass on the side or the corners
