Well the NBA is stopping that BS with players being bought out and returning to their former teams. ( Like Diop before.) Should we hire Big Z as a back up center? He played backup anyways, if Lebron becomes to expensive along with the other Cavs free agents wouldn't Ilgauskas be a good back up for us? He can shoot 3's relatively ok, therefore spreading the floor, and he's huge. A plus is him and Yao know each other rather well since Z talked to Yao when he went through those string of foot/leg surgeries. Now I'm also not necessarily saying we should pursue Z now, more preferably during the summer, but we should show him interest. Our line up could be: AB/Lowry Martin/C-Bud Ariza/Battier Possibly: Bosh/Stoudemire/ Scola Yao/Big Z/Hayes roster filler Hill, Jeffries,Armstrong.
Did they rule he could not go back to the Cavs? If not, I expect him to wait 30 days and sign there again. DD
I'm fine with him as a short term fix while Yao's out. But the face you said "long term project" turns me away. I don't want to start the "Z" erafor Houston.
I know there's some issues Sterns making about it. That the idea was premeditated that they trade him, he "miraculously" want a buyout, and come back to his original team. I believe reeko or some one made a thread about it.
The only team he's ever played for is Cleveland. He's like Hakeem to fans there(in terms of loved). No way he comes here.
Why would he come here? He's at the end of his career - he wants to go to a team that has a chance at the championship, not a team that is fighting just to make the 8th spot in the playoffs.
Good situation here. He might not want to go to a Cleveland competitor in the eastern conference. Where would he go in the west? Lakers? Bynum there. Spurs? Maybe. Dallas...maybe...but Houston seems to fit his playing style better. He could be the perfect fill-in for Yao.
