I think KT can be a very good NBA player, but he, like Drew, need minutes to develop. With Mo-Fo here, I don't see KT getting the time he needs. I think the Rockets will package KT and Drew in a trade before the start of the season. Thoughts, and possible scenarios? Maybe a SF? DaDakota ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
We don't need a 3, we have Shandon, Walt, Langhi, and Bull. What we should get for that pair would be a draft pick from a bad team. But I'd like us to keep KT and get rid of Drew for anything. ------------------
I personally love KT's potential, what worries me though is his work ethic. Maybe we keep him around as insurance if Mo leaves. I am feeling pretty good about this years team though. DaDakota ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
I think KT needs to be moved for additional cap relief next summer. With Mo Taylor in the mix, the Rockets dont really need KT any longer. They need to back up Mo with a tough, defensive minded player which KT is not. Moving KT for a FA to be in 2001 or to a team with cap room that can absorb his salary would free up another 1 mil in the 2001 summer. This could come into use towards Mo Taylor and Shandon Anderson. On a side note, I really hope that Tyronne Washington makes the team. The Rockets need a rough and rugged defensive minded wide body like that coming off the bench. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
While I think that KT will have diminishing minutes because of Mo's arrival. KT and Mo will complement each other and will almost split the PF position. I do not think we need to trade KT just because we have Mo. ------------------
CC, I definitely agree with you. Keeping Kenny can do nothing, but help us. I mean, what would we do if we traded Kenny somewhere and then Maurice was injured? We would have some of the same problems we had last year. Keeping Kenny is the smartest thing we can do right now, we need to build upon our bench as much as possible. Now we are deep in our backcourt and a small forward away from one of the deepest teams in the league.
Well, i guess i don't even have to say anything, do I? ------------------ Hakeem, Hasaw, Haconquered.
If we got offered a good deal for KT that involved us getting a center then I might be for it!! Otherwise we probably need KT. We're not exactly deep at the PF spot - we didn't have one last year and now we have one - that makes one. Let's not trade away a guy who could POTENTIALLY be a decent backup there! I think the real guy we need to look at trading is Carlos. There wouldn't appear to be much court time for him behind Mo and he has a 2 year contract for over 2mill a year... ------------------
I would have Carlos play before KT anyway this year. Carlos hustles plays better D than Thomas and I think given more time he is a better rebounder. Considering how deep the draft is next year I say we trade KT and Drew for a mid first round draft pick. I don't think we can do any better than that. What type of player do yall think we should go for in next years draft? I mean what position. ------------------
What type of player do yall think we should go for in next years draft? I mean what position. Small Forward, a defensive minded one. The Rockets need a defensive minded SF to pair with Langhi. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
I would also rather play los before KT, if Losis healthy. I dont think Mo and KT complement each others game at all. THe both play similarly, but Mo is bigger and does it better. I agreee with all who say we need a big atheltic banger down there, someone like the previously mentioned Jerome Williams. I would trade KT and Drew for Williams, or even for a relatively good draft choice. Teams that may be able to use KT and/or Los Kings-maybe Sixers Raptors Nets There may be others, but I dont think any worse teams will be willing to trade away their draft picks, as they may be good. Next years draft we ethier want a true dominant Center or a very atheltic, big SF, ala what Rashard Lewis is becoming or a Gerald Wallace type. ------------------ Jackie Treehorn treats objects like women!
Next years draft has four small fowards that I think would be perfect fits for the Rockets. 1. Gerald Wallace 2. Vincent Yarbrough 3. Terrence Morris 4. Shane Battier All great defensive minded small forwards. ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
I would keep Kenny Thomas. I think he has the potential to be a 16/10/4 guy at some point during his career if his work ethic and fire are there. Also, we need him at least as insurance if Mo Taylor leaves or does not pan out. In terms of freeing cap space for the future, I would see how well Langhi plays during the first half of the season and if he does well (I expect him to), trade Walt under any circumstances, if possible, for draft picks or one of the young, talented Clipper players. If Cato does not show improvement and if he still looks like he does not care, trade him, too. Then go for an athletic, shot-blocking C and an athletic, versatile, defensive-minded SF in the draft (agree with MManal). If Mo turns out to be a bad influence in the locker room, you could still trade him after the first half of the season, he will definitely have trade value. Drew and also Rogers should be traded immediately. ------------------
Do you believe in the tooth fairy too? Carlos plays matadorian defense. The value Carlos brings to the team is that he is the energy guy we can bring off the bench for 10 minutes a game. Carlos has no outside J and plays no D, which limits his minutes and his team role. Trading KT is stupid!!! MoTay will sign to the highest bidder next offseason, which may not be the Rockets. The Rocks need to keep KT in case MoMoney does not resign. KT is destined to be the first 4 off the bench on a good NBA team. I say let KT embrace his destiny next season. ------------------
------------------------------------------- "We don't need a 3, we have Shandon, Walt, Langhi, and Bull. What we should get for that pair would be a draft pick from a bad team. But I'd like us to keep KT and get rid of Drew for anything." -New Guy There is no way we can become a ligitimate team in the west with Walt starting for us. If Langhi shocks the world and becomes awsome, then we wont have to trade for a SF. Shandon is a SG and will stay a SG. And, no matter what his parents say, Matt Bullard will not solve our SF problems. I think we should package drew,KT, and bot our pick and the bucks pick next year along with maybe even bull or walt for a high pick and then we should draft gerald wallace. ------------------ "There are two rules for success... 1) Never tell everything you know."
If he could be included in a deal for brad miller or jerome williams, he should be packing his bags already. otherwise, he stays put. ------------------ "The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams. It´s Heaven and Hell!"
KT isn't going anywhere unless we receive an offer we can't refuse. KT has a low contract, making him a bargain for what he brings to the court. Trading him now would not be a wise decision. ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do?
Look at the question this way: If Kenny had produced the same performance as last year on another team, and we could go out and get him for his current salary as a backup to Taylor, would you do it? I would.
Woo hoo. Will nailed it. Why do you want to get rid of whatever semblence of depth you have on your front line? By adding a starter, you added a bonafied backup. Quit tryin' to screw it up! ------------------ Falk that Mo Fo!!!
I am glad we got Taylor, but I really think KT could be just as good, if he plays with fire. I just don't see him getting the minutes he will need to get better. Maybe Rudy can play both Mo and KT at the same time. I look at the team, and I see a WHOLE lot of talent, and not enough minutes to go around.
