Should we go Dolan and completely clean house for 2012?

    Chris Paul
    Deron Williams
    Dwight Howard

I think it is very likely that Dwight will pair up with one of these guys, somewhere.

*Courtney Lee is Dwight's best friend in the league. Dwight was outraged when they traded Courtney for Vince. (In the back of DM's mind when he made the trade?)
*Hakeem is firmly in Dwight's ear. ;)
*Patrick, Courtney, Budinger and Terrence Williams could be great role players when 2012 rolls around.

I would like to hear Bima's thought on our roster and our ability to clear space for 2012.

Houston has always been a great basketball franchise. I think we would be a top possibility for the next "superteam", If Daryl can swing some trades to build a cheap supporting cast.
Kevin Martin and Luis Scola for Derrick Favors and Troy Murphy would be a good start.

Not to mention Javale McGee, Roy Hibbert, Andrew Bynum, Kevin Love, Brook Lopez and Russell Westbrook, some being restricted.

I've actually been thinking about this scenario as well, if not for anything other than the sheer fact that it gives us a direction. It would give us a clear-cut goal to aim for, and the seed would be planted that we are a team that is serious about contending. I just dread what would become of the franchise if we were to strike out.....enough to not want to pursue this.

We're not New York, so it won't work.

And it didn't even work for NY, they had to settle for plan B-3.

Dwight also signed with Hakeem's former agent the week he trained with him.

We should have already gone this direction, instead of chasing the 8th seed get rid of martin and scola's contract's start piling draft picks and clear cap space to have an opportunity to sign 2 max players and also have a chance at a franchise player through the draft, not sure why Morey's procrastinating it's common sense.

Houston isn't a bad place to pull this off. It is known that we are a determined to win franchise, with a good owner, and a city that all NBA players LOVE, for whatever reason.

Big E, Moses, Hakeem, Yao, Dwight

We are a core NBA team with a good long history.

I think we can pull it off. If we don't, we should be bad enough to get what we need, high draft picks.

Even if we strike out we'll just suck until we draft the next superstar.

Being mediocre is the worst thing you can be in the NBA. Your team can constantly every year get marginally worse or marginally better but never good enough to attract superstars or never bad enough to draft your own.

We have a better history than Miami and Miami is not some elite market like LA or New York in fact I'd say Houston and Miami are on the same level. I mean they had problems with attendance and have 3 superstars on one team, I doubt Houston would have this problem if it had Lebron,Wade, and Bosh.

Difference is Miami had the opportunity to gather those 3 guys together and no other team could. If the Knicks had the space I truly believe those 3 guys would be playing in New York right now.

I agree 100%. We are not a top money team like LA or New York, but we are in the top 5-10 as far as good franchises to play for goes. History, commitment and the capspace to make it worth a try.

Martin should be an untouchable on this team.

Scola is only available for the right price.

Yao Ming should be resigned at the end of the season.

There is no Miami, NY, NJ, OKC, Chicago to compete with in 2012. We would only be competing against the likes of Indiana, Boston, Sacramento in 2012, and we have a pretty good chance.

    Williams
    Martin
    Williams
    Scola
    Yao

Lowry, Scola and Kevin Martin are the only contracts that run past 2012 I believe.

It is known that the Nets would kill to have Martin and Scola.

It is known that Morey likes Favors.

Kevin Martin & Luis Scola for Troy Murphy and Derrick Favors sheds a TON of salary. It just makes a whole lot of sense.

I find the Knicks tend to be overrated in terms of their market appeal, sure it's NY, but my time there, it felt like football in LA, big market but wrong sport to really capitalise on it.

Your fingers should have gone up in flames then..

You can cross DH off the list, if he goes anywhere, it'll be LA. Probably for Bynum.

according to RealGM Paul/Williams/Howard all unrestricted in 2013, espn says 2012, what gives?

This is definitely what we should do, trade assets for 2012 expirings. Then get Hakeem to convince Dwight to come to Houston. Paul or Williams will follow.

...I just can't imagine Hakeem in anyone's ear. He doesn't strike me as that type of guy - he's more likely to give advice like "play for whatever team you feel like will complete your soul".
