Just a question. I am going to(reluctantly)say yes. My reasons: McGee's play was promising towards the end of the season. He is 3-4 years younger than Asik. He is more of a shot blocking and scoring threat than Asik. I blame his absent mindedness on youth and bad coaching. Houston would actually be the perfect situation for him. Now, i know they should not have offered that much to Asik, but in 3-4 years, Mcgee will be well worth that amount. What say you Clutchfans?
Not to mention it would be a little messed up to agree to an offer sheet with Asik and then leave him hanging with just the QO.
I wonder if McGee is plan (B) for the Rockets if we don't land Howard. I don't know if Houston has the cap space, but I'm talking about landing both Asik and McGee.
Mcgee isn't that bad, sometimes when you're playing with a bonehead (aka Blatche) you turn into one as well. I'm not that big a fan of Mcgee but I would certainly prefer getting him at 10M a year than trading all of our young guys for 1 year of Howard. My only issue with him is with Mcgee you can't put an emotional/impatient guy like Mchale as coach. Mchale benches guys who space out and do useless stuff on the floor (aka Dalembert who played like 5 mins a game at the end), him and Mcgee might butt heads.
Yeah, but if it turns out this isn't that "right" environment, then we're on the hook for $40M over four MORE years for a talented bonehead. But some posters here will be thrilled with those occasional highlights.
This. 10mil a year for 5 years doenst sound to bad with his height, age, talent, and if hes in a good coaching atmosphere. Dude can be a stud.
