Why draft Colt? Wait and draft Keenum. He's one of the top QB's in the nation and he's only a sohpomore. He's #2 in passing and #1 in nation in total offense.

Bolt on Colt and stay keen on Keenum!

College spread offense. They say a guy like Chase Daniel will at best be a 3rd rounder.

NFL scouts look into players like Matt Stafford and into guys like Josh Freeman more than guys who put up stats.

Again, like McCoy, Keenum is short and not as strong as Colt...Keenum is probably a 2nd/3rder at best...I doubt he'd go first round because of where he plays

If he had more size, that may sway many teams

holy crap - did matt schaub die? did i miss the news?....

the texans have a long, looooong, looooooooooooooooong list of needs. somewhere, well below that, rests the need for a new QB. why is this even a thread?.... seriously.

Thank you. Sometimes I think I'm the only person that realizes we have an above average quarterback.

The Texans are 6th in passing and 5th in offense.

If he was a best available talent pick in the 3rd round, that'd be the only way to justify it. Draft a QB who might sit for 2 years when you've already don't have a 2nd round pick, or draft a player that might can come right in and contribute?

add at least 2 rounds to that. and probably 3.

including the 2 they sent to ATL for schaub, the texans have used 6 picks on QBs in 7 drafts; 4 in the top 100. if they waste any more picks on QBs, i'm going to shoot myself in the temple 71 times.

I don't think we should be drafting a qb, but I don't think we can call schaub above avg just yet.

What is it with Texan fans always wanting to draft a QB??? I can't think of anything else we could do to set the franchise back another 3 years than drafting a QB on the first day.

Seriously, we as Texan fans are smarter than this, right? RIGHT???

2, really, because by back-up standards, sage is above-average, as well, and a pretty decent spot-starter.

    here're schaub's #s his last 3 starts:
77/113 (68%); 953 yards (317/g); 6 TDs; 2 INTs; 1 F; 105 QB rating. and yet, there's not 1 but two threads here about the texans drafting QBs?..... blerg.

the guy's 27 years old and still doesn't have 20 NFL starts under his belt. health is an issue - otherwise, i think we're set at QB for the next 3-5 years, if not longer.

in fact, offensively, other than possibly upgrading the interior of the OL - and assuming slaton and brown (as well as jones) continue their development, not to mention health across the board - you're probably looking at your starters/offensive contributors for the next 3-5 years.

they'll need a back-up RB at some point, if not a #1 back. otherwise, they're 3-deep at WR; they have quite possibly the afc's best TE; their RT is among the 10 best in football; they have a top 10(ish) WR and quite possibly two in the top 25-30; and it now looks like they have a home run hitting RB and, hopefully, the long-sought answer at LT.

and to top it all off, when schaub is on, he's arguably (statistically, at least) as good as any QB in the league, a devestatingly effective QB. and even when he's not on, this team moves the football. look at the tennessee game: schaub was terrible and yet - the texans drove inside the titan 20-yard line on five different possessions, scoring (iirc) just 10 points.

so, please - no more "peyton manning just fertilized his wife's egg - should we draft the unborn baby with our 3rd round pick next year?" threads. we're fine at QB. #101 on a list of 100 things wrong with the texans.

We agree on most things, but I'm not sure that my list of problems would be 100 items long. May just be the homerism in me, but I think that the Texans aren't that far away. Just need a little fire to develop, and better play calling.

this is awesome. :D almost as good as "my yawns are yawning" which I steal from you and use around here quite a bit.

no kidding...we're not drafting a QB any time soon unless something goes dreadfully wrong.

Schaub is a decent QB, but athletically he is challenged and takes far too many hits.

If the Texans can get a good young athletic QB and have him learn as a backup for a couple of years, they should do it, IMO.

    Like a Dave Ragone/Drew Henson/BJ Symons/Alex Brink-type guy?

Seriously, we have arguably one of the best QB combinations in the league and we don't have a very good history of drafting QBs. Why is everyone so eager to want to do it again when we have SO MANY well-documented needs at other positions?

DD, your titans should know more than anybody the perils of drafting a QB too high when the backup is actually a better option.
