    Bengals released RB Rudi Johnson.

The writing was on the wall for Rudi when he hurt the same hamstring in camp that washed out his '07 season and took way too long to recover. As a vested vet, Johnson may have to wait until after Week 1 to catch on elsewhere so his next team doesn't have to guarantee his salary. The Saints could give him a look.

We need another RB that can't stay healthy. ;)

He was amazing consistent until last season -- I think part of the reason he hasn't played this year is a personality conflict more than his hamstring.

Rudi would be better than anyone on the team right now -- if he is in fact healthy. Since it's not a joint injury I would bet at 28 he could regain the form of 2003 - 2006 --> avg = 1300 yards rushing and 12 TDs.

It doesn't hurt if you can get him an incentive based contract with a cheap base. No if he's expecting anything different.

What other RBs are going to get cut who are 100% healthy or good enough to improve our running game? If he's there after week 1, I say go for it.

With Chris Brown done for the year, we potentially have a roster spot for Rudi Johnson now, right?

I'm all for it. It will be interesting to see what Rick Smith & Co. come up with from the waiver wire.

no they placed brown on IR essentially taking the last roster spot instead of cutting him.

yesterday when they made the cuts it was only 21 players and gave it until today to make a decision on brown. so they essentially cut him for the the season by putting him on IR. except next year we can bring him back

This isn't a shot player like Shawn Alexander -- Rudi has had only one nagging injury after 3 and half season of excellent running and durability -- bonus -- he is still in his prime at 28.

sure, it can't hurt. Fernando Bryant was also cut, could use another CB .

No, absolutely not. He's clearly being hampered by something, otherwise he wouldn't have been released. However, they SHOULD take a look at Deltha O'Neal, who was also released. He is definitely better than Jacques Reeves,

Yes...Rudi is the bomb-dig. Not like we got anything spectacular at RB anyways.

If he comes cheap with an incentive laden contract, then why not?

The talk is starting to heat up -- I think he is a steal, but we have to wait until week one...
