I think the Rockets should really try to get Karl Malone, they need a dirty player like malone to make up for Yao's non aggressive play. He can also teach this young team to play team ball and teach Yao to more aggressive. A power forward in Malone is all the Rockets need for them to be in the finals next year.

I'm in between on this idea...

Yeah he could help the team but what if he doesn't get enough touches???

    Thats my question...

We already have guys that have complained about their minutes and touches ala Maurice Taylor, Glenn Rice and even Francis wants to move to SG, which means he wants to be able to score more...

Karl would definitely fit the brusier guy I think we need but would he be worth it...

Look at our track record with big old men Dream and Barkley fell off their last seasons here...

I'm just not sure if its worth the risk with guys like Norris, Mobley, Rice, Taylor and Cato who all get paid a ton of money and have not really paid dividends... Only Cuttino is a starter...

I'd wouldn't mind a sign and trade for Karl Malone, possibly Taylor and Norris for Karl Malone and either another player or pick(NO way they trade Kirilinko)...
That would let EG have more time to learn from a great PF...

I like Taylor but he's not the answer, doesn't fit with Yao's game... Need a defensive physical PF, Karl fits that mold and
EG would have more time to develop physically and work on his post moves...

Not sure if that could work but if it could, that would be good in my opinion..

Karl would be good at installing some discipline in the younger guys, but I would never want him on the team. Karl would demand touches because he wants to break Kareem's record. Karl needs 20 pts a game for 3 years(maybe 2). Karl also is a loser who elbows people, flops and complains. I would rather not have the kind of play he does on our team.

This has been asked several times but my opinion still hasnt changed. Bring in Karl only positive things can happen. Sure he is one of the biggest rivals the Rockets have ever had but its been 4 years w/o a playoffs apperance its time to get desparate. But there is no way Malone would come here. Lakers Mavs Spurs Orlando all have a much better shot.

    Irrational Fan Stylez:
I hate Karl Malone. I'm willing to have the team not be that good for a few more years just to keep Malone away from this team I dislike him that much. If he were on the team and we won an NBA championship I would be partly pissed b/c Malone would get a ring, I hate him that much.

    Rational Fan Stylez:
Malone would help this team for all the reasons everyone in front of me have mentioned. Realistically though, I don't think Karl Malone puts us in the finals. The playoffs for sure, but the finals I don't know. The biggest thing though is I don't think Malone would want to come here b/c a championship wouldn't be garunteed and there could be a problem w/ touches. I could be wrong but I'm not holding my breath on Malone coming to Houston.

How come I got a new a-hole ripped for me when I posted something about this a long while back before the Karl Malone talk became more popular.

    update:
A Rockets fan in San Jose, in an unconfirmed report, says he heard...on KMBR radio there ..that Malone is interested in becoming a Rocket. Malone says he wants to go to a contender and feels he could help the Rockets become one of the top teams in the league.

Whoever started this thread should be given the same! :)
Malone is more than a rival. He is a dirty player that hurts other with his flying elbows and knees. He never apologizes or feels bad about the damages he's caused. He cheats, flops, grabs and does whatever necessary to get an advantage. He then whines if the calls don't go his way even though 90% of them already have. All of this is done by one of the biggest, strongest guys in the league!?

    Some examples:
    http://www.makingpages.org/hoops/Malone.danger.html

No, I don't want Malone here. I don't want him even if you can guarantee a championship. I don't want to win that way!

We DO NOT need any more washed up Vets who will be in the league for only 1 more year, what we do need is a better GM who will dish out the $ so we can actually hae a good team!

you know, i can imagine if karl malone joins the rockets and doesn't pass the ball very much. half of the bbs will say it's the rockets' system. the other half will say that all he cares about is the scoring title, and rudy's system is just fine.

...i can already see it... :(

KARL MALONE WILL BE a huge ballhog the next couple years. I wouldn't want him on this team. I'd get sick of his face.

If we are building for the future so that we can contend for titles over a long period of time, what good will Karl Malone do for 1 year or so?

I don't think we will have to worry about it. Dallas and SA can pay him more. He seems like the natural choice to replace The Admiral in the Spurs starting line-up and he would be a coup for Cuban's ego.

Me, too. I'd rather saw Deckard's toes off with a dull blade than see Malone as a Rocket. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lakers make a play for him now though.
