As the Rockets strategy unfolds, things are starting to get interesting. We knew it would. Now,looking at the big picture, a legitimate case could be made for trading Yao (perhaps 2 - 3 years ago ) He has a contract that expires after next year and this history of foot problems. The expiring contract combined with the chance that he could make it through a season healthy should be worth quite abit. I know he has the cash cow/face of the franchise thing going for him, but Les has made plenty on the initial run and besides that too would be attractive to a possible suitor. I just don't see us needing that kind of exposure at this point. The downside risk of another injury is just too great when put up against the talent we could add to what we're going to be running. There is no need to roll the dice on him staying healthy. The Rockets have a lot, more than capable of filling roles on a title team when all is said and done. It appears Tracy will bring much via trade. So, we're going to be in a position I believe to put ourselves over the top with dealing Yao. The question isn't will they but should they?
The Cavs have a player some consider the best in the world and why can't they win it all? No consistent low post threat. Keep Yao at all costs.
He is not fit. Other teams won't give us back much value right now. His foot problems will scare away many of them. People are making assumptions of McGrady bringing back this and that, but if there had been a solid offer,he would have been gone by now.
They should either trade Yao or let his contract expire and hope to sign him to a much smaller deal. He could become a Bill Walton type sixth man coming off the bench.
Here we go one mo' gain. Should I get up because tomorrow is Wednesday? Should Tmac wear #7 because he hasn't taken us out of the first round on his own? Should Glenn Beck apologize for being an idiot? Lots of "should?" questions.... Let's wait until the Tracy situation is figured out before we address the tired, trade-Yao threads.
I'd rather see if he can recover and reach his old level. If so, then great. If not we let his contract expire. But if Morey does trade Yao I'm sure it will be to the team's benefit.
Trading Yao is just as dumb as trading LeBron, If you are the Cavs. LeBron is clearly the superior player of the two, but they both make/market the same amount of money for their team, Yao probably markets more. Yao's only problem is his health, LeBron doesn't really have a problem other than a consistent jump shot. Like said and done, Don't Trade Yao, Trade T-Mac.
I voted no unless... We get another top center in return. Someone like D.Howard, T.Duncan, P.Gasol, and A.Stoudemire. A good center is hard to come by these days. I would be all for trading Yao for one of those guys.
Should OP have posted this thread? Why do people think trades happen just because one side wants to? Like because they want to get rid of Tracy they say Rox should trade him. To who?? Who the hell would want him? Who would make the Rox an offer that they would take for that player??? Why don't people who make these trade suggestions think these things through before posting things like, "Trade his ass!" Which team would give the Rox something that helps the team more than Yao does, everything considered? Trade? It takes two teams to make a trade mor"a"ns.
Stoudemire is the best bet acutally only bet really...DHoward is NEVER leaving Orlando unless something happens, TDuncan is to old and has only a few years left and Gasol is VERY important to the Lakers.
Hey buddy, there's such a thing as an expiring contract....then there are massive expiring contracts...and then there are those that are insured on top of it...Toss in the fact we're headed into the greatest free agent bonanza in forever.......That's Tracy and if you read the post the reasons for a big return on the big man are laid out.....and the why also. Lay off the personal attacks in here...It wasn't cool when we got this bad boy going back in the day and it's not kosher now. Cheers
