This morning I saw a few tweets from Chris Mannix about this subject and he makes some valid points...

ChrisMannixSI Got to wonder how Stoudemire's imminent signing elsewhere will effect Steve Nash

ChrisMannixSI With Dragic waiting in the wings and Nash still playing at a high level, now might be the time to move the PG and max out his value

ChrisMannixSI Nash's two-year extension kicks in next year. $10.3 mill in '10-'11, $11.7 mill in '11-'12. Very movable numbers for his production.

With Bosh looking less and less likely by the day, I wonder if this would be a move that Morey could pull off in a win now mode type mentality while not crippling the team long term. Also think it would allow Daryl to move AB for another Elite level talent either now or at the trade deadline.

What would it take to acquire Nash? Well with Dragic as the next in line, AB wouldn't be an option but with Amar'e leaving to NY an argument could be made that the Suns should start to rebuild so Hill and the NY picks would come into play. This would mean Lowry might be let go, depending on AB, but could reduce Les' LT bill along with I BELIEVE enough money still coming off the books in 11-12 to go after a Max level guy.

    Nash

    for

    Hill, Battier and Picks

    Nash/Brooks or Lowry
    Martin/Budinger
    Ariza/Jeffries
    Scola/Pat Pat/Andersen
    Yao/B.Miller(Assumption)/Hayes

We would still have Brooks, Scola, Ariza, Pat Pat, Jeffries, Bud and/or even Martin along with more picks to move if necessary at the deadline for another Elite level talent like Granger, Paul or even Melo.

No point in keeping Brooks if we get Nash.

    I like the trade.

    And why is that?

Nash could do better everything than Brooks. Don't get me wrong I love Brooks but Nash is just too good and he is a true leader which we need righ t now.

But we can't get Nash. If he ever leaves Suns his destination will be Wade or Lebron's team.

If we can get Bosh, yes there is a chance for Nash to consider us.

Without Amare Suns won't be a playoff team in the west and there's no meaning to stay anymore for Nash. Suns board should trade him for exprings and future potentials, picks.

Again if Nash ever consider to join us, I would die to get him for Jeffries+Hill+Budinger or Patterson.

What, the Rockets aren't looking to improve their roster?

Yeah, becasue Nash is only 22 and you can build the next 10-15 yrs around him

Further, AB is old at age 25, let's deal him.

Another thought, get Nash now to further entice Bosh to Houston.

Why do you think we are going after Bosh in the first place?

We are in the run to hopefully win a title with Yao. Chances increase if we add a elite PG to our roster.

You can't build around Brooks either. Guy is a marginal talent at best in the NBA.

I would do it assuming we get Chris Bosh.

Normally I would say no because having Nash as your point guard at his age limits the window you have to be contenders, but with Yao's injury situation the way it is, the window is already limited.

The factor to consider is how much of Nash's success late in his career has had to do with the seven seconds or less offense that the Suns run. Don't forget that before Nash came to Phoenix he was a good, but not great point guard. He was a borderline All-Star with Dallas. It wasn't until he moved to Phoenix that he became a perennial All-Star and two time MVP. Now, he is a few years older and he will be taken out of the offense that allows him to do what he does statistically. At this age, it may be difficult for him to even get back to borderline All-Star in a different offense.

I just don't think the Suns would do that. Pie in the sky.

If Carl Landry was still here we could pretty much trade him for whatever we want on Phoenix..

Rick will make a play for Nash...

Some kind of play to keep him from driving when we play the suns.

If you guys think Brooks is a bad defender, you guys must not watch Nash. The Nash/Martin backcourt would be horrendous

Yao can't play with Nash. Nash will make Yao run to death. I don't want tragedy to occur in Toyota Center.
