Let me say this first: If the Redsox and Yankees can honor each other's players at retirement then any team in pro sports can honor a career opponent. There is nothing about the Spurs-Rockets rivalry that would make it more difficult to swallow than Redsox fans cheering Rivera or Yankee fans cheering Big Papi. It's a matter of sportsmanship and an objective admission that these are both very talented players.

However, would the fact that the Spurs/Rockets don't have as heated a rivalry as the Yankees/RedSox make the gesture not seem as needed?

I know there will be a lot of people who vote no but I hope they can look at this objectively and not in the lens of the Spurs are the enemy and anyone who doesn't want to hate them all the time is a traitor. I was there for the series, was crushed by that game 5 loss and depressed by another 40 point elimination embarrassment.

They already did by throwing away Game 5 at the end in Spurs backyard and quitting in Game 6 at our own home court. So Parker, Ginobody and Popo have already been honored by the Rockets both home and away

    No, not officially.

They deserve great respect from the fans but there is no need for the arena crew to carve out time for it. It's hard enough to get Rockets fans to cheer for the Rockets.
