Build around Amen, Alpi, and Reed. That seems to be our big three of the future.

Let’s Reed have a solid year under his belt and then we’ll talk. I don’t want to hear from you guys that was the worst mistake we’ve made by drafting him if he were to have a shooting slump.

Instead of what? Amen is one of the most unique talents we’ve seen and Sengun may make all-NBA this yr at the age of 23. If Reed can play like he did last night, all yr long, then we can talk about building around him with Amen and Sengun. For now, I’m just excited to have a prospect with star potential that is rapidly getting better. We’ll see where it goes.

We already have in a sense. We landed him a franchise center and point forward who is a defensive stalwart. Not to mention a 6’11 forward who is shooting .39 from 3. That’s a pretty solid foundation for his skillset.

The folks on this board crack me up.... lol!

Reed has 1 game with 31 pts (on just under 50% shooting and 25% from 3) and folks want to build around him... lol!

Look at the #s for Linsanity... and obviously that wasn't sustainable....

I'm happy that the kid may not be a total bust - but lets hold off on ordering the statue just yet...

These are the same folks who were ballyhooing Sengun as the future MVP during his international play and into the season... and that certainly was not the sentiment i saw on the board during last nights game... lol

Idk why folks wanna put guys on a pedestal - and then be disappointed when it turns out that they arent Jordan... lol

Yes. They should. Until JD has a good game, then we'll build around him!

The fit in a lineup of Reed-Amen-Tari-Jabari-Alpe is pretty nice.

Instead of who? I think once they nail down the chemistry a bit better, Reed, Sengun, and Amen are a young "big 3" to build around.

I think he's now at least flashed that he can have a monster night and win a game. That at least shows he's at solid starter level I think. I'm not sure you switch to him as the focus over Alpi and KD just yet, I think Amen's also a step closer to them than Reed is still. If he sustains this play long term and it's not just a huge game every now and again then you'd revisit actually changing the direction to build around him as the centrepiece. Alpi's still the one who's looked most like a superstar out of our remaining draft picks tbh.

I am not sure what "building around Reed" means. Alpi Amen and Reed all have complementary games Alpi is a post scorer and playmaker, Amen is a defensive superstar and top 1% athlete and Reed is the elite perimeter scorer.

The Rockets dont have a "99 rating" player like prime SGA, Lebron or Jokic, they have specialists who have clearly defined strengths and weaknesses and luckily these 3 all complement each other.

I did...? i think u must be confusing me with someone else, sir...
I'm never all that enamored with anybody... lol
Jalen showed some flashes - but I was never sold on him being a superstar...

    Right now...
I'm impressed with Bari and I believe he will be a solid rotational piece for years to come...
I think Sengun has some unique abilities and think he will be starting caliber for years to come...
I LOVE what Steven brings to the table... but realize he only checks limited boxes...
Amen has real potential - but we will see if he can develop any consistent shooting ability...
Tari idk... dude looked like trash and then he came to life and looked impressive... so idk...
Okogie, Holiday, JD... all are nice solid back-ups...

    and Reed...
Honestly, before this year, i thought the dude was a total bust (Bryce Drew level)...
Then, a few games in, I thought he may have a career as a role player shooter (like Kerr)
Now I think he can be a solid rotational piece - maybe even a 6th man of the year candidate...
If he can string together a couple months of solid play... then I would graduate him to starter caliber player...

and fwiw... nobody is off the table as far as I'm concerned - if the right offer presents itself...

It's not 2022 anymore. Phase 1 is over. Sengun, Amen, Reed, Bari and Jeff Green are the young lads moving forward

Your premise is correct but I have to be real…any Lin comparisons are absolutely ****ing dumb

Lin was an undrafted player that had a run of scoring that was an outlier while he played in an MDA system that exemplifies the scorer.

Reed is playing in an offense that doesn’t cater to him at all and one he’s just doing his bread & butter in

Reed is continuing exactly what he’s done his whole career and what we drafted him at 3 for. Hitting middies and 3s is what the floor of his game literally is.
