Now that the three Duke students have been exonerated, what do you think their next move or moves should be?

    1) Sue the State of North Carolina for legal fees and damages?
    2) Sue Mike Nifong and their accusers (because they all will be doing books)?
    3) Demand a public apology, given in person, by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson?
    4) Demand a one by one apology from the 60-odd Duke professors who so cavalierly condemned them?
    5) Sue Duke University for their tuition as well as damages?
    6) Demand a public apology, in person, by the NAACP, et al?

    What a mess! Thoughts?

If Al Sharpton had one shred of integrity, he'd be down there tomorrow morning apologizing.

It should be Dukies. Spelled dookie it is another word for a turd. Unless, of course, you are making a pun, and you don't think much of people who go to Duke.

Oh come now. The only place for those boys is Hollywood or a book deal!

Thas where the bens are @.

Sucks to be that girl though. Poor thing. She probably wanted to drop the whole thing but that Nifong guy probably saw a way to win an election.

All of the above, but I think the most important one is an apology from those two idiots

They can ask for apologies but the only people I think that they could sue are the state, Mike Nifong and the accuser. Duke U., and the NCAA are covered since they were criminally charged and its not their job to determine their innocence. At the minimum though Duke should probably reinstate them and restore scholarships.

As for the professors, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton I'm not sure if a defamation case can stand since they were arrested and charged so while their condemnation might've been premature and overblown it wasn't totally baseless.

Lawsuit, book deal, movie rights. After apologies from whoever owes them one.

Talk about an interesting turn of phrase for this particular case...it turns out, they were the only ones that did!

Huh? How are you drawing that inference?

I think your sympathy is a little misplaced. She's the one that accused three men of sexual assault. She's the one that initially brought it to the attention of law enforcement. She's the one that sat down with detectives and gave statements as to what allegedly happened that night.

I'm a former felony prosecutor and I'll agree wholeheartedly that Nifong jumped to conclusions -- and a large part of that was race-based in that he didn't want to be the one to appear bias against the black community by dismissing the charge. And as long as he had a black victim who claimed up and down that she was assaulted and white suspects in an already racially-heated atmosphere, there was NO WAY he was going to risk the appearance of "racial favoritism" in an election year by dropping it. Instead of vetting the evidence he practiced result-based prosecution which is unconscionable.

In essence, his knee-jerk attempt to pander led him down the path of trying to fit a square peg in a round, prosecutorial hole and he created life-changing repercussions for all involved.

But for us to sympathize with the accuser and portray her to be some sort of "pawn" maneuvered and twisted as a means to Mike Nifong's end? Well, that is both disingenuous and tenuous.

If I could amend the title, I would. I meant no slur on the Dukies. I thought it was spelled the other way -- which is how I have always seen it.

    Yes to all.

These kids said it best themselves when they said that had they not had the resources to hire top notch lawyers, they would have been railroaded into prison and probably never heard from again.

Cmon Al....take a break from the Imus thing and say you are sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am usually not one to say sue, but this is a valid case. I would go after anyone i could, duke, nifong, sharpton...whoever publicly blasted these kids b/c of the inconsistant and incoherent story of a stripper/hooker with a known past of false statments and legal troubles.

this is a legit story, not the ramblings of some shock jock...which coincidently enough is also bringing out the same weasels that came out in the duke case.
